Description
From Tokyopop:
Some of our most cherished manga characters are blessed with magical powers...others have an extraordinary combination superhuman strength and cunning intellect. But Hibiki? Her only real skill seems to be making a pot of delicious tea... Or is it?!
Well, of the 2 volumes I have read I've seen nothing but character introduction. Its presented purposely 'out of focus' and while you read through it all, the big picture becomes clearer. Instead of giving you each character's origin, they introduce them as they currently are with one story, show you their personality with the next story, and then give you their backstory after they've done all that.
I like cute stories so I dont have anything to complain about, but to those who feel that a strong story right from the get-go is important, they will be most disappointed. The story is chews on it's own scenery a bit much at times, I'll give it that, and some of the characters seem to have an archetype feel to them. Eh, but what is original these days anyway? Not a whole lot, so some forgiveness is needed here.
By the end of Volume 2 , the mangaka tell you right out in their blurbs at the end that they intend to actually develop a story arc for these characters. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they do with it. The only things thats truly a shame is how long its taking to come out. I'm sure this must be a side project for Izumi Rei, so I doubt it's high priority to him. In any case, it gets a 10 from me. Why a perfect score with so many imperfections? Read it and find out, she might be a fictional character, but I'd feel bad for the little mage Hibiki if I scored it any lower. If only such optimism could exist in reality.
my local bookstore just released this series until the 2nd volume (hooray for that) I like how the story goes, 1 arc for each chapter each chapter has good, heart-warming, simple, sad, and deep-meaning story in it (as expected from KEY's people, this manga has a lot of influence from it) and of course this manga leave a very very great impression for me so if you like a short manga with relaxing story, I highly recommend this series as for why I give 9 ?? because at the end of 2nd volume the author say this series will end at 3rd volume, but until I wrote this it never continued and stuck at 2nd volume. otherwise, I'll give a 10 score
I love this series, it has such a great mixture of cute and sad I love all of the little stories and the characters. At first I didn't buy it, I thought it was going to be some cheezy little kids book or something, but on second glance I really fell in love with it! Does anyone have any news on the hiatus though? It's been so long since the last volume came out...I'm a little worried D;
I really like this manga. I've only read chapter 1 so far, but I can't wait until the next release. It is very cute, and at the same time the story is very sad.
