It's missing something...

I would love to give this manga a 10/10 but the characters are very bland and somewhat emotionally unrealistic. Even the lesser characters were more engaging and alive. Overall the plot and art is just amazing and stunning!

Confusing, but good

The only thing I have to complain about is the pacing, especially in the early part of the manhwa. Twenty or so chapters in, the story settles down and the plot starts to roll, but in the beginning it's confusing as anything and there were a whole ton of characters.

That said, however, it's a good read! It gets better and better as the story goes on, and now I'm actually quite hooked. Lena is tough; and I mean she's mentally tough. Most mangas endear the protagonist to the reader through the protagonists' sense of compassion, but Lena doesn't do that: she has good sense, she's ruthless, and she's good. It's an interesting thing to see.

INCEST IN MANGAS/MANHWAS

WTFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!! what is seriously wrong with these fu&*&ing shitty authors?? Do they get boners off incest themes or something?? The story line is awesome but the whole incest thing between brother and sister is like a bitch slap. I just can't stomach it and I dont understand how alot of people can just ignore it.

I absolutely love this series. I'm not a big fan of manwha but I loved this one from the beginning. I'm finding it a lot easier to follow than most manwhas. It has everything you could want in a good shoujo. an interesting plot, a strong heroine (rather than those annoying whiney, weak ones ones that tend to ruin the whole story), and amazing art... and of course, gender bending :] Unlike a lot of gender benders where the main character gets caught early in the series, Lena is doing rather well hiding her identity so far... Although I'm still fairly early in the series :/

I'm also liking it more because, so far, it isn't too squishy with overly dramatic characters proclaiming their undying love for each other every 15 pages :] (okay, that's a slight exaggeration...)

It's a longer series, but definitely worth the time spent reading.

One of the best Shoujo mangas!

Okay although I said shoujo-it's korean...but you know what I mean..

I have very few shoujo mangas that I like and even few shoujo-korean mangas, but when I say this is one AWESOME manga-it's awesome~~ahh^^^

Lenna aka Ley is one strong badass cool female character. Of course there's action in this series as well. Out of all the male characters I like Sena the best-but Ley is still the best!!

FINALLY, a shoujo style historical adventure that doesn't make me feel ashamed for my gender

Ley is seriously badass, and actually a bit of the tsundere type. No sparkle-eyes or brimming tears here. I like that Lucian isn't the prince-charming kind of King -- he's possessive and aggressive. Michael is my favorite love interest, rather unorthodox. It would be similar to if Ageha was a love interest in Basara. Anyway, if you liked Legend of Nereid's more unpredictable formula, but also enjoyed Basara and Red River, I think you'd really like this one. So far, it's my favorite out of all four!

This is the first real action manga that I loved both the guys and the herione!! Ley/Lena is soooo cool!~ She's faithful, strong, loveable and admirable!! I LOVE HER!~ I also love Michael (hey I'm a sucker for gorgeous guys!) and the prince (he's sooo cute). I can't wait for it to end!! I want to know the ending, and I will definitely REREAD this manga (and I NEVER reread manga series!!)

if you have time to read this, read Basara instead

If you like this manhwa, you're better off reading Basara which has better character developments and a stronger story, and definitely more awesome illustrations.

The characters in Saver are really bland, even the heroine. none The plot is predictable and there isn't really anything special here. It's like it's trying too hard to have an impact on its audience, but all the notes it's hitting are just still shallow.

GOOD!

Saver is one of the few great fantasy/historical epics from a shoujo genre perspective. If you enjoy Twelve Kingdoms or Basara, you will likely enjoy Saver.

One of the strongest points of Saver is the main character. Lena kicks ass. She's strong. She's logical and doesn't jump out to be the defender of the universe. But she's not two-dimensional because the readers are shown very clearly what her emotions are.

The second strongest point is the story. Saver is a nice, complete story, although it is cut a little short at the end. The direction of the story doesn't veer very fair off like is seen in many great mangas. Typically, the quality of the story deteriorates greatly when the "big, bad mystery final boss" is revealed. This didn't happen for Saver. The end of the series felt more rushed, but the plot was still coherent and enjoyable. Refreshingly enough, there is also quite a bit of foreshadowing in this series! You'll read something in Volume 5, and it'll come back up 5 or 7 volumes later.

If I had one thing to criticize about Saver is character development. Saver is very action- and event-driven, but very little time is spent on the characters themselves. We don't get a lot of time to get closer to cast.. Rather, the personalities and feelings of each character are laid out plainly in front of you, and the reader just has to accept it.

I'm a sucker for gender bender and this one simply draws me into it. Ley is really beautiful (as woman and man lol) and I couldn't help feeling excited, wanting to know what's the progress. She started off alone and in no time her allies increased... they are attracted by her charisma.

I'm curious... how will the story end?
