Description
Kagome is a modern Japanese high-school girl. Never the type to believe in myths and legends, her world view dramatically changes when, one day, she's pulled out of her own time and into another! There, in Japan's ancient past, Kagome discovers more than a few of those dusty old legends are true, and that her destiny is linked to one legendary creature in particular--the dog-like half-demon called Inuyasha! That same trick of fate also ties them both to the Shikon Jewel, or "Jewel of Four Souls." But demons beware...the smallest shard of the Shikon Jewel can give the user unimaginable power...

This is another manga of the started so good kind... But it's extremely long. I was shocked when i knew it had finished. At the beginning i rly like it. The characters are typical shoujo characters so i dont like them. But the developement of the relationship between kagome and inuyasha was pretty good. Inu sucks though... Then the story just continue and continue and i see nothing but never ending battles ( which has ended somehow ) and some boring romance. I liked shessomaru at 1st but the mangaka tried too hard to make him cool and destroyed him completely
This manga was really amazing

i see that almost every one didn't like the fact that it was so long butt i really liked this manga i thought it was really good the fights were pretty fun to read, i loved the development of inuyasha as the time with kagome grows he starts saying "Heck" not "Hell" and even "Darn" instead of "Damn"
i like the romance the whole inyasha kikyo thing really pissed me off,
miroku was a amazingly funny character and sango was a perfect match for him,
the development between inuyasha and kagome was really well done!
though at some parts the story sorta dragged butt all the characters were well thought out and the pairings like
Rin and Sesshomaru i think that was a amazing pair up,
Kagura and Sesshomaru, i think the moments they had were really nice and soft.
Kikyo was a amazing and sad character her story was really sad i hated her at first butt looking back i feel that her character was really well thought out .
i think the plot line was a little weak butt it was very nice and fun to read i will always
support this manga
and on a side not i really liked the anime for this it followed the manga nearly perfectly not many anime follow the manga that well

It started out good, but it gets repetitive eventually and stays like that for 200 CHAPTERS!
It's basically
Find a jewel shard inside demon
Fight demon
Encounters Naraku
Fights and Naraku escapes
Inuyasha's sword is upgraded x times
Rinse and Repeat

It took me several days to finish Inuyasha (with breaks in-between) and have now gone through the mishmash of gushing and frustrated reviews posted here. I get both sides and LOL’d at some of the snark I found. Here are their main points and my take on each:
LENGTH - I don’t think the manga’s length itself is the problem but the repetitiveness of several story arcs that didn’t move the story that much forward and could have been skipped.
ART - No it’s not pretty like we’re used to from the likes of Vampire Knight, REAL, Blade of the Immortal and Otoyomegatari but there’s something very endearing about it similar to other classics like Mitsuru Adachi’s Rough.
CHARACTERS - Most of the villagers and youkai they meet are forgettable and the main characters have strong similarities with previous characters from Maison Ikkoku and Ranma. However, there are noticeable character growths among everyone (although it’s not perfect and could have been done at a slightly shorter period).
HUMOR - Is a mix between subtle and slapstick.
VIOLENCE - Is present in nearly all chapters but done in an old school sort of way; it’s “clean” meaning no rape and torture which other mangakas working in similar genres automatically add.
ROMANCE - I like that it’s mostly at the background and a bit understated. Normally I’d be annoyed with a main character who can’t seem to make up his/her mind but the reasons for the love triangle here is understandable and I sympathized with them all.
NARAKU (aka The Villain) - Is indeed as annoying as they say. I’ve never felt fear from his many “power-ups” and just wanted him dead like how one wishes to step on a cockroach that should have long been gone.
CLICHE - I think what most people fail to realize is that most of the themes we thought were from other manga (and have seen many times over) actually originated from the likes of Rumiko Takahashi whose careers started back in the 70s. I’ve read somewhere that Maison Ikkoku, her previous manga, inspired succeeding generations of romance and comedy tropes.
ENDING - Did not feel rushed and capped things off nicely. I wish they showed Kouga one last time though.
ANIME vs MANGA - I usually like manga better than any anime (if I ended up reading it first) but this seems to be special case. Having read all 559 chapters of the manga and having watched 1 episode of the anime just now, the anime feels more compact and interesting.
Bottomline:
Inuyasha could benefit from whittling down a few hundred chapters but it has the makings of an instant classic and deserves its spot just below some of manga world’s greatest series.

This Manga was introduced to me, in the form of the anime, which was good. However even i was in the vain of it being way to long. Then while starting reading it 5 days or so, i felt ok, yeah, this is the great series i remembered, detail to detail. Finding that it was long, i was ready to read a long series. I have read all 600+ Detective Conan, and other Manga with great length.
Now let me explain why a great series is defined by it's length, well... more or less what defines it.
I'm of the opinion that if something is good, then it might as well be long, no matter how repetitive it is, simply because good characters can't be spoiled by repetition, just the storyline, if anything it enhances the Characters and dampens the storyline.
What i thought of Inuyasha, Continuing of earlier, Inuyasha Ringed in my ears (Even if i didn't hear any voices) when I thought of reading manga. I read past the anime plot line, and found new ground, loving every minute, every once in a while being frustrated at the side stories, but was never tired, i finished it today, with a thought nothing, because i loved it, i couldn't grasp how much i loved the last words, and the last page, the true feelings of the characters towards the Shikon no Tama, i was braced and after much effort i finished this manga, and my rating is all over this comment, any people who have a problem, then rational thought is not with you because if you liked something, regardless, it should be no lower than a 8, and Inuyasha definitely deserves a perfect score, 10 A Legendary Manga.

I really liked the early volumes of Inuyasha. Imo, they got it all: the characters, the romance, the action, the suspense, etc...Then it got redundant with Inuyasha and his friends killing demons and such. I personally think those fights served no purpose. It became better again with Mt.Hakurei arc only to continue with useless fights later. I also feel that the last volumes were kinda rushed. Overall, the quality of this series did fluctuate to a noticeable degree.
However, I love the characterizations. I think they're realistic and deep and we can actually relate to the characters. Imho, Rumiko Takahashi did a mighty fine job in handling the whole love triangle and reincarnation things. I, unlike some people, am satisfied with the ending.
I'd give Inuyasha a higher score if it wasn't for those redundant parts. I think I'm quite generous to give it an 8 though.

When I started reading this series, I LOVED everything about it. The characters, the concept, the settings. Each character is interesting and memorable (except Sango. She's just plain annoying in my opinion). I especially love the designs of the characters' outfits. They are so pretty!
Let's talk about the ending shall we. Well, the words 'crappy' and 'unsatisfying' pretty much describe it. Seriously, one MAJOR thing that annoys me is that Inuyasha and Kagome have never kissed in the manga (I don't know about the anime). I mean, what is up with that? Their romance is supposed to play an important part, yet all they do is hug. I know 'physical actions' isn't all there is to love, but still, fans want to see the hero and heroine share at least one goddamn kiss. I was actually expecting a major emotional scene when Kagome finally returns to the Sengoku era, but damn it, it was so lame.
The ending also doesn't tell us what happens to the other semi-important minor characters, such as Kouga. He disappears pretty much right after he obtains the badass weapon (which I forgot the name of). What the hell. I was so sure that he would show up for the final showdown with Naraku, but he doesn't. Another disappointment for me.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant. I just wish I didn't read the ending. I wish I just stopped right after Naraku's death. I would've rated this series 10/10 if I just stopped there. I had such high hopes for the ending, but oh well.

around a whopping 55 volumes so far, and it seems like it's finally starting to come to a close. If this is truly the final arc, i predict somethin of about 5 volumes that describe the fight with naraku in excruciating detail, after this will be 1 or 2 volumes of epilogue. If the author of this truly continues with the series with naraku miraculously escaping into the clouds after all the side characters dying/ going away, and all that tension buildup... well then, im jus pissed.

OK I know everyone has their own opinion and everything, but I honestly can't see how Inuyasha is a bad manga/anime JUST because it's 52+ volumes. For those of you that keep up with the weekly Shonen Sunday releases, I think you'll agree with me that the story line is getting better and better. Maybe those who are complaining are only doing so because SPOILER:SPOILER: their beloved miko dies? Just a thought. SPOILER:SPOILER. Anyways, I for one have been a dedicated Inuyasha fan since the beginning, and must say the storyline is really picking up. I feel bad for those that ditched it......cause you don't know what your missing.
