This is extremely good, i highlyy highly recommend it ..chapter 28 nd 29 are out cn't w8 for chapter 30 :3 hope they'll come out soon!

To everyone who is saying that "FYGK is SOOO much better than the original FY!" ... I'd think that is to be expected, granted Yuu Watase wrote the original FY like 10 years ago... naturally she would mature as an artist and as a writer.

However, I don't think that it's right to say that the original FY 'shouldn't even exist because FYGK is so much better' or to say 'don't bother reading the original' because the original is actually a good introduction to this prequel. The original FY gave away just a few details regarding the story of Genbu and Byakko that makes it interesting for the readers to see how Yuu Watase will depict the rest of their storyline.

Not to mention, if you read or watch the original FY series, you can see some slight parallels in the experiences, locations, characters, etc between the priestesses, and how different characters react to similar situations - which I think is pretty neat.

All in all, I think giving the original a shot is worth it. The universe between the priestesses is the same, but their personalities and train of circumstances drive their stories into differing paths of growth.

I love FY series but FYGK is better either the characters, story line & art works. Although I love anime, I just can't stop read it after I start. I really can't wait to read the next chapters & hope will make it into anime in the future. It will be much more successful than FY series.

I really like Takiko & Rimudo a lot. Hope will have a good endings although the ending already reveal in FY series, (i .-.i)....

FY was so cliche and annoying. HOWEVER THIS MANGA WAS AWESOME!!! I only wish that this one came first and the original didn't exist. It's a must read for shojo fans, and the plot is great - made me want to cry at times. Leading lady was a million times better, as well as the character development.

I started reading this before the original.I think this one is better.The story is so awesome!I love It.For anyone who read Fushigi Yugi should read the Genbu Kaiden.

In my opinion, I think this series definitely pwns the other one. xD

I thought that it was Suzuno, the second Priestess (Takiko, Suzuno, Miaka then Yui are the four), who they found in FY.

I love this story, watching the original FY, I know that this will likely unfold tragicly but it's still great. I love the characters and art. I hope they make this an anime one day. The stroy is not the most original at first glance but it is the twists and turns along the way that make this an exceptional time travel/ordinary girl becomes saviour story. Takito, coming from the early 20th helps with this feel too.

even though i'm not 100% sure, i recall from the original FY series that Takiko actually wished to Genbu that she be with Rimudo(Uriki) but Genbu responded that it was the only wish it cannot grant. Rimudo and Takiko only were happy once again when Takiko died and Rimudo (already a spirit) , fetched her spirit on the time of death. This was shown on one of the OVA of the original FY anime. Unlike the Suzako (which actually has a former name of Ho-oh meaning union of man a women thus capable of bestowing any wish associated with love), the Genbu has no power to make the two lovers live together forever. The story has a sad beginning and will have a sad ending.

Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden is the counterpart of Fushigi Yuugi. Even the main characters personality are different. I prefer FYGK due to the fact that Takiko is much more mature and the plot really shows how similar the Miko and the genbu seishis are with one another plus I love the way the romance development so far.

@cornelia0306: If you read FY (the sequel of FYGK) you'll find a few spoilers of what will happen to The Priestest of Genbu.

Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden piqued my interest with it's humor and unique plot. As long as there's humor, you can count me in.I love how it's very different with the Fushigi Yuugi. I actually didn't finish watching Fushigi yuugi where its episodes started to get complicated.I'm just starting to read the first volumes and it really makes me want to turn every page faster. I love Takiko because she knows some moves. Rimuda is awesome too. He reminds mo of Ranma since he can also turn into a girl. But I don't want it to have a sad ending..How did you guys know that Takiko would be killed? I don't want death and i think many would die.huhuhu,..i don't want it to happen..if it does..
