After watching the anime and picking up the manga fort the remainder of the chapters, I have to say I had the feeling the anime covered the fun volumes, and the remaining ones were much more dull. Therefore I recommend watching the anime or reading the first 9 volumes, the rest I recommend not so much if not for some closure.

Pretty Good

This is one shoujo manga that I actually enjoyed. Most of the time, I don't like drawn out love stories (and I almost NEVER enjoy romantic comedies). Even though I'm more drawn toward shounen, this story was not boring at all.
The gender bending quality of the story also drew me in because I love the gender bend genre. ^_^

Anyways, I recommend this to anyone that is not entirely opposed to shoujo.

It just becomes insanely boring, especially towards the end. Walls of text and a cast I wasn't satisfied with, especially the cliched male lead. It was funny while it lasted and I enjoyed it while it was entertaining, but I'm afraid I still don't recommend it.

Probably my own issue

But I found this manga incredibly boring :/ I guess I must have warped tastes or something because the ratings on Ouran are very high. I couldn't marathon and I could barely read 3 chapters back-to-back because I literally just wanted to fall asleep. I also preferred the mangaka's art style from 1000 Years of Snow, but that's just a personal preference thing. Wasn't too fond of Tamaki, Honey, or the twins.

I admit this manga has its own merits which is why so many people love it; however, I had trouble reading this. I highly suggest it to anyone who is looking for a long series.

My friend forced me to watch 3 episodes of the dubbed anime version, and after 5 minutes of episode 1, I was hooked. I watched the rest of them until 6am the next day (no sleep obviously) and I started reading the manga and did not sleep until I finished the whole series. This manga, really, ruined my life. Now, due to manga, I barely read actual books because I have been hunting down mangas such as this hilarious rom-com. If I had to choose between sleeping and reading this manga, I would choose the manga. If you do not want addictions, do not read it. This is the funniest manga I have ever read, and in my top 2 mangas ever. It only is beaten by fruits basket.

I have never in my life read a manga that captivated me and had me laughing from beginning till the end. It drew out feelings of deep friendship and love that is real; and a comedy that is and unsurpassed. I loved all the characters and how they are all the focus of the story.

I loved this manga! It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me on edge! I loved reading the entire thing! Granted, there are some SERIOUSLY unrealistic circumstances, but they're all really funny. I can't really say anything else, other than this is something everyone should read at least once. Best comedic romance manga I've read so far.

Best. Manga. Ever.

First of all, I'd like to say that Ouran High School Host Club is bloody briliant. Why? The plot is light-hearted, sometimes I think there's no plot at all. I love how well-written and well-developed the characters are. Even the art wasn't the best at first, but the developments are rocketing, compare the last chapter and the first one, the drawings so different (but I still can find the similarities) that I could just gape around like an idiot. It's brilliant, I say, brilliant, smart and not-so-stereotypical shoujo manga. An ORIGINAL.

Haruhi Fujioka? The name is pretty, the person is too. But she's way far from the typical whiny, teary-eyed shoujo heroine. Haruhi is unique, blunt, sarcastic, down-to-earth, smart and not afraid to speak her mind. Do NOT ever compare her with Amu Hinamori (Shugo Chara!) 'cause she's way better than the pink girl. Haruhi is though but sometimes can be very oblivious with feelings around her without being too-dramatic. I find it funny on how Haruhi is always lost agains the club if she's tempted by fancy tuna. I think she's obsessed somehow, ha ha. Haruhi is a reality role-model for girls (or maybe every genders) on how to survive this life and be confident on yourself naturally. I love her witty atittude. She's my hero. She's got style. I adore her so much.

Next is Tamaki Suoh and Kyouya Ootori. If you take a glimpse, their friendship is shoujo stereotypical charming-guy-and-cool-guy-friendship. But it you look closely, it's far from that. Tamaki is a prince charming, that is right. But his often idiocy that shows through the series make me realize that he's far from charming (okay, I admit that he IS charming) and I quote Renge; he's a 'phony prince'. Kyouya's cool atittude can be refered to evil and mysterious, not cool (I'm going to be killed....). Their clash amuses me to no end, especially when they call each other 'Mommy' and 'Daddy' (note Kyouya's sarcasm when calling Tamaki that). I often think this, "How the hell Kyouya puts up with Tamaki's universe amount of idiocy?" I realize that, Kyouya really does care about him and also the host club behind the cold exterior. I aslo suspect that Kyouya loves Haruhi... but some things are better left unsaid, right?

My favourites; Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin. They're the first identical twins I go crazy and obsess with... and I'm crazier after Hikaru dyed his hair dark ash. They struggle to find their individual identity while keeping thei twin status. I somehow respect their hardwork on that, you can see the result already, anyway. Hikaru is hot-headed, often rude and an ignorant but that's how he expresses himself. Hikaru deeply cares on people, especiallt the ones that dear to him (Kaoru and Haruhi) but he's never good at words and ends up being rude. Kaoru on the other hand is someone that a person can go for advice and talk about their problems for hours. He's cunning and sneaky like his brother, but he can still throw wise advices on people. Kaoru can be a very well psychologist if he wants to. Their newly born sister, Ageha, is super duper cute! The combination of the twins mix inside her!

Lastly, Mitsukuni Haninozuka and Takashi Morinozuka. I find it a little bit dissapointing that they're more like cameos rather than main characters. They realize everything from the start.. before Kyouya too. They should get more love in the series. I appreciate their efforts on keeping quiet and let the juniors figure things themselves. I like the odd love-relationship between Hunny and Reiko Kanazuki, they make such a cute couple. Everyone is also curious about Mori's wife, right? (I have this crazy thought about having Hunny cosplay as Kurt Hummel from Glee. I don't know why but Hunny suits the role. Period.)

I'm a loyal HaruhixHikaru shipper but I need to respect Bisco's decision on ending Haruhi up with Tamaki also with every HaruhixTamaki shipper on this site. So, congratulation on both of you, live happily ever after, have great kids that I hope don't inherit their father's stupidity. biggrin

Overall, Host Club is a recommended manga. It's breathtaking, and also hilarious. A-MUST READ OR YOU DIE (I'm becoming violent bigrazz)

Long live the Host Club; The-Club-That-Will-Never-Die!

This manga/anime has everything to be perfect. Laughs, sadness, yaoi (xD), lolita-ness, tears, chuckles, etc. Very nice ending. Character development is excellent. Drawing gets better thoughout the series much like Hana Yori Dango. This manga is simply amazing smile
