Depends. Most of the time the good guys. At times the bad, like Kaname. I guess it depends on how I am feeling.

The guy who isnt an arrogant jerk with a large ego. The only way I'm ok with those types getting the girl is if they are first put through hell. But mostly I'd rather the nice guy get his happy ending.

In series like Skip Beat, Ren all the way. Sho is just so bratty. It can be amusing but for her to end up with him? Nah. It will be a hilarious twist if he likes her now and she instead ends up with Ren. Think about it. Thats like the ultimate revenge. And with Ren at that. laugh I want him to go after her HYD Tsukasa style. But I want him to get crushed badly. Cry even and beg for her as she tells him no and willingly kisses Ren in front of him herself. (in my dreams)

You know how interesting it would be if Kyoko ended up with Sho?
I would love a twist like that.
*is probably the only one who thinks so*

I like the kind and quiet type best, like Mizuki in Platinum Garden or Yoh in Koukou Debut.
Yet mature and level-headed bad boys like the Devil from Masca or Kaname from Vampire Knight are good too.

Otherwise my picks are often totally irrational, such as Momiji from Furuba ... Hopeless laugh

But sometimes the hotheaded stereotypical bad boy is okay if he suits the girl, like Kyouhei in Perfect Girl Evolution. It's a rare exeption though.

If you mean bad guy and good guy as in which is more ethically correct, then the good guy. I hate those shoujos where the girl falls for some ass who rapes her or the guy that is a delinquent or player, and she ditches the charming, nice guy.

and about Vampire Knight... idk about you guys but I always thought/felt that Kaname was the bad guy and Zero was the good guy... Kaname seems dark and over possessive... and Zero seems like just a good guy trying to deal with lots of problems.. I root for Zero

it depends upon the story...
but i still chose good guy to be on the safe side...
but theres still this part of me who cant get enough of bad guys sexiness...

ohhh...
about what im saying earlier...
for example the bad guy has a bad past and his attitude is the result of the bad past <which is always the reason> <getting old...> and now he is harrassing the heroine then the good guy comes to rescue..
its always been like this but if it were to be in reallife I will rout for the good guy…but since its manga…it really depends on how it was laid out…but sometimes I get annoyed already at all those evil guys…it so clichéd already!!!

I found another example of where I've routed for the 'bad guy' (i.e. I mean the one she doesn't end up with, not the literal sense. I'm not into the raping stories either haha. Although, I suppose Sho is pretty much the antagonist of Skip Beat.

Oh and StarlightDreams, I would totally love that twist. Haha, my love of Sho is totally totally masochistic. Why do I rout for a selfish guy like that? Haha.

Anyway;
Akai-sensei from Crossroad is my latest find.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Ahh, why doesn't Kajitsu end up with him, why does she run back to Natsu in the end?
Akai-sensei for the win biggrin

Oh, and Terpsichore, I adore Momiji! But, I have to say, I did rout for Kyo throughout the entire Fruits Basket series biggrin

None. I dislike love triangles and harems. And I rarely read shoujo romances nowadays.

HAHA YES!
Spoiler (highlight to view)
especially since he kissed her in the latest chapter :D

i want BOTH of them to go domyoji on kyoko
but realistically i dont know it kyoko would admit she likes ren yet
she'd probably be confused as heck and reject both of them sad
in the end she'd have to end up with ren though bigrazz

Why didn't you include Both. i mean, sometimes i always rout for both. Somehow, it always comes out like that. IDK but if i had to choose, i'd go with the bad guy.
i always find them more amusing and interesting then the good guys..

I agree with Gunslnger Girl. I've found lately that I too have rooted for Sho since he realized his feelings, despite his personality. Also, in manga like Absolute Boyfriend, I find myself getting mad at the girl for being so oblivious about the "Childhood Friend"s feelings. Then I feel horrible when the girl falls in love with some other guy suddenly and breaks the first "nice-guy"s heart! (But I was really glad that she ended up with her Soshi after Night died, though I thought it was really dumb at the same time. I mean, so he's just the replacement husband?! What the heck?)

I feel the exact same thing. xD
As of the topic: I tend to root for the character that the majority of the readers wouldn't imagine ending up with the girl. But sometimes, it can just be the guy that the girl wouldn't pick in the love triangle. Like Zero.

Ah, I usually root for both guys.

Sometimes, I cannot choose between the nice guy and the rebel. I just love both of them.

I ALWAYS root for the dark, polite, and cold love interest, even though (as far as I've seen) he almost never gets the girl. That's why I don't read shojo a lot, because I end up getting frustrated at how things turn out.

Oh gosh, when I first started reading shoujo I always managed to read ones with love triangles & not knowing how shoujo worked back then, I'd always root for the good guy xD

my first shoujo ever was Peach Girl and
Spoiler (highlight to view)
silly me, I was rooting for Toji all the way until the end. I actually sorta liked how it ended though.....he basically went off forever pining for Momo, which is the way I love my shoujo guys - pathetically tragic & perfect. so maybe that was a good ending?

and then my second shoujo ever was Marmalade Boy. DO NOT ask me why, but when I read Marmalade Boy for the first time years ago, I much preferred
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Ginta to Yuu xD it's funny now, but sheesh. I reread it recently and realized that Ginta was quite a jerk, and I didn't understand how I could like him better. Especially since, unlike in Peach Girl, there was NO question about who Miki would end up with.....it was quite obvious. silly little past me~

ooh, I thought I'd run out of examples, but actually I have one more. from way back when reading Ceres. this is another example of it being totally obvious who Aya would end up with. but since I was young when I started it, I was confused
Spoiler (highlight to view)
and wanted Aya to end up with Yuuhi. then again, even now I don't actually like the character of Tooya, so I can understand why I wouldn't have chosen him, but still.

and lol, I don't think I've ever used the spoiler tag that much before....anyway, I guess one point of the story is that nowadays I'm much better at realizing who the main guy will be. but then again, I feel like I haven't read anything with a love triangle in it in forever.....but oh well, it means that I always root for the right guy! xD
