It sounds like you are looking for some Shounen ai, more so than Yaoi.

Kanga na Spoon is probably too smutty for her.

yeah i think so too, but it came to my mind when she said
Quote
NO GIRLY-weak-lame-submissive feminine

and they r bishies i guess that might hurt her eyes D:

idunno she still has more options
try some first and then idunno u might like this one..
i loved it D: .. but each head is a world, depends on the taste,...

best option is to start from there

I'm not sure if you'll like these, but here some that I liked:

Okujou Fuukei
Lucky-Kun

If I think of any more, I'll add them.

I've read Base Coat's recommendation on After a Storm, I hafta say, this is the type of yaoi that I'm looking for. It feels like I'm reading a Hetero Josei rather than those typical mainstream Yaoi. I love the character development and how the plot goes. Like any other mangas that I read, it's not my fav. but it's a very pleasant read.

I've also check out some of Shaggievara's recommendations on the works by Miyamoto Kano and YONEDA Kou. I've only read two of her works, Moony and Doushitemo Furetakunai. Reading both of them left good impressions on me, just like After a storm, I feel like I'm reading a josei manga, there are romance, dialogues and development in the storyline. I like Doushitemo Furetakunai better than Moony but I definitely need to thank Shaggievara for recommending these mangakas. I'll check out more of their works if I have time.

As for Odette's recommendation, Thank you for sharing your fav. yaoi!
I've only managed to read Gerard and Jacques last night, and I enjoyed it partly because of its historical theme. It does have some very smutty moments but I like it because it has chemistry, backstory and again, the DEVELOPMENTS in their Relationships (that I'm always STRUGGLING to look for in the overflowing cliches in Mainstream Yaoi)

@Base coat, Juls91
Thank you so much for taking considerations on the criteria dat I'm looking for. I do appreciate it. And yes, Overly feminine/masculine bishies hurt my eyes dead

@Brutelord & Juls91

Shounen ai is nice, but Yaoi is interesting too. I have to admit, I like to see some Sex between them when I read yaoi. (cuz it's interesting) but, I do want a coherent storyline when reading this genre..not just some random bishies liking each other (w/o any reasons or chemistry between them) A.K.A Moe-ness, Uke..feminity...Nekoboys...Slave..etc.... dead

and yea, everyone has different tastes XDD

@MasamiAkane
I havent check your titles yet, but I'm looking forward to reading them when I have the time =DDD

eek I love nekoboys. laugh

Yeah, Hermit-chan, that's why I recommended YOSHINAGA Fumi's works. But I definitely don't read them for the smut (very light actually in most of her works and the drawing style is not suitable for sexual works).

These are my favorites by her:
Solfege
Hontoni, Yasashii
Sore wo Ittara Oshimai yo

And I am liking Oooku.

Kyuuso wa Cheese no Yumewomiru is my favorite too. It also reads like a josei yet doesn't have touching and sweet romance but drama and angst. Worth a try if you don't mind smut.

Seeing that you like Boys Next Door, I would suggest Don't Cry Hong Kong - a manga about gangs. Pity that it's not translated yet.

Ai no Kotodama - slice of life, light read, chemistry (I suppose), isn't silly, not much smex and there is a girl messing around. I've read only this title but I suppose enything else by KONNO Keiko will be good too.
TAKAGUCHI Satosumi has a long list of titles. Isn't silly, the art won't hurt bishiephobic eyes, interesting characters. I've read Thirsty for love, Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful, Yononaka wa Bokura ni Amai.

Ah, you're a yaoi reader?*-*
Loooove her work as well. But I don't think Hermychan wants that kind, too smutty and the ukes are kinda girlish in those lovely scenes. xD

Edit: I must be off, I can't seem to do the quoting right...weird only with you. none

Miyamoto Kano might be a good introduction.
-Plot
-Characters who don't look girly
-Usually, her smut content is fairly small. The stories revolve around the characters developing and their relationships.
Blue Eyes is shounen-ai, really, and has a plot. Hoshino Lily has some light yaoi and some hard; you'd have to go through her works.
Mishima Kazuhiko was my introduction to yaoi. Usually, her plots are not very smutty, are pretty cute.
Kamo Nabako has really cute plots, but also rather stereotypical characters sometimes.
Macaroni is a shounen-ai with a decent plot. The author has several other soft works.
Koukyuu no Arika
Yoneda Kou has fairly light works.
Suzuki Tsuta If you feel like something with a little more smut, this would be the author to look up.

In gerenal, avoid Naona Bohra, Minami Haruka, Yamane Ayano, Tori Maia, and Chitose Piyoko; all popular authors with heavy doses of smut. Not for anyone who doesn't like yaoi.

Sorry if I can't be more helpful; I prefer my smutty plots laugh

Hmm, as for suggestions, Under Grand Hotel was pretty un-cliche, though the art puts some people off. And then there's Konno Keiko's works, even though the romance sometimes develops a bit too fast for my liking... dead

Heys!! Under Grand Hotel is not bad at all!! laugh It's pretty good for a yaoi since it's very very VERY uncliche!! eek eek It feels like the manga is not-made-to-cater-the female readers THOUGH... O____O

This is prolly one of the most interesting title that I've picked up this week. I should have picked this up sooner. laugh

You got that right!! cool
But I'll check out your recommendation Xanimeem!
and thanks for the reckon Terpsichore. I'll read them! Who knoes, I might find another hidden gem amongst the mainstream yaoi!

Ah yes.. I dont mind smut as long as both sides arent the typical Girly Uke X Manly Seme..I'm veryy interested into hard core yaoi now.*yep...I'm trying to break out of the n00b level. So please!! feel free to reckon any good ones!

Some verrrrry good examples: (Which ofcourse are now my current favourites)

Under Grand Hotel O-o
Sono Kuchibiru ni Yoru no Tsuyu
Last Client
Cut

I like some comedy too!
>>Yome ni Konai ka This one cracks me up!! Gay marriage themed yaoi can be interesting!!

I would strongly recommend against Hoshino Lily, as she literally has the girliest ukes I have ever seen. Literally. I have never in my life seen girlier ukes than hers.

If you liked Yoneda Kou's Doushitemo Furetakunai, you might want to take a look at some of the projects Vices and Devices is doing, since they seem to focus mostly on similar, more "modern" mangaka that might be up your alley. (I feel like that recommendation will either be a bull's-eye or a total bust.... -.-; ) I also second Kyuuso wa Cheese no Yume o Miru. And Suzuki Tsuta, while we're at it. Kyuugou, maybe? If anyone ever scanlates it, Sumidagawa Shinjuu, maybe, though it's really a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing. Uh... -racks brains- Sorry, I got nothing else.

I would say definitely Junjou Romantica [of course you might have heard it]
and then: TOTALLY CAPTIVATED!!!><
omg holly geez okay at the begining things are a lil hard, but then as the story goes on, you'l find more touching scenes, characters are explained through out, and well you will cry in tears, be amazed.
Best manga ever.
=D

oh and viewfinder. alot of action thought, and well really rated R stuff...hehe=D wink

Yeah, TC was a definite no.
But now that I think about it Junjou Romantica isn't such a bad recommendation, mainly on the second couple. That seems to be more or less what she's looking for. Personally, not my cup of tea but that pairing made it slightly bearable to read/watch. :/

Also try Last Portrait, if you haven't already. There's this other one I'm trying to remember right now...will edit in a few.

I recommend anything by YAMADA Yugi, but in particular Arienai Futari, Darenimo Aisarenai . I basically go by the same criteria as you and she is probably my favourite yaoi mangaka. Some of her mangas have some steamy sex, but nothing too explicit.
