Hello (: . i'm looking for a manga like Red River. I recently just finished reading it and i LOVEDD ITT.
i love how it has historical that is interesting and not boring. I love reading long mangas, with a good plot. With a bit of magic, and strong heroine and a splash of romance. I also like how it's not revolved around sex or anything, it has a bit of smut which is good. But if anyone has any suggestions of mangas that are like red river? Doens' thave to be exact, but i just want a strong heroine, long story, and some romance. Much appreciated ! <3

how about kanata kara?? though it doesnt have any smut.. the heroine is also strong but not in a physical way.. i really think that shes really cute though!!

and if you dont mind a slightly stupid-ish female lead then try reading tail of the moon

i'll also recommend vampire game because i like the story and the kickass heroine.. though its not historical..

and also the bride of the water god though i find it kindda boring but the art is very nice... its still in my reading list... it has to wait there until i finish reading red river

I also loved red river after I read it. Then try SAVER, it's much more like Basara because it has this child of destiny thingie, but it's also good, I just finished reading that. but you'll probably get hanged up just like me because it's still ongoing and I'm still waiting for the updates.
If you have already read that, try RYO by Ueda Rinko, it's also good, one of my favorites among the historical mangas I've read. Tsuki no Shippo for me is my number one historical manga.

And I recommend Crazy Girl Shin Bia! - I love it! It's almost like Red River, with the change in history, etc.
I'll also recommend Tokyo Crazy Paradise for a good read too.

Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago It's by the same author and it has the same historical feel to it.

I can't believe no one posted ouke no monshou....

Aside from the facts that main character is considered a goddess and comes from the future, Yuri doesn't spend every other chapter being kidnapped by another Prince/King She's much stronger than Carol. But yeah, I used to recommend either or when people ask for such type of manga.

Since I can't really recommend Basara, Legend of Nereid, and Kanata Kara anymore, I'll try to squeeze something... similar?
