I'm looking for a Harry Potter-like manga, basically, magic in a school setting, something like Tenkyuugi - Sephirahnatus. But please, no yaoi, and learning about magic should take up an important part of the story.

Not really a manga, but you should definitely check out Gunnerkrigg Court since it does have everything you're looking for, plus a strong female lead. It takes place in a sci-fi steampunk world that's both modern and fantasy, and not to mention also won numerous awards.
