a manga in which the protagonist or antagonist or one of them if there are multiple, that they have a different side to them that they keep secret to themself, secret identities may work too
Holyland the protagonist looks weak and the type whos a total loser but he is the badass thug hunter at night on the streets.
underdog main protagonist is a loser but he has skill in covert stuff like sneaking into ppls houses and stuff.

Gintama; more of a gag-comedy manga, but Gintoki the main character seems like a lazy idiot, but he's very strong and has a reputation from the past that his current friends don't really know about.

Zippy Ziggy; just a guy who's narcissistic and likes to make up lies; also a pretty funny manga.

Vagabond to some extent, the main character fakes his death and changes his name.

Vinland Saga; the guy they call Askeladd has a past that he was hiding... it gets revealed eventually.

Imadoki! To begin with, at least, the love interest is a kind plant-lover in private and a cold, unapproachable heir in public

Oh, and Eensy Weensy Monster, where the girl has a little green monster inside her that comes roaring out around a particular guy, though she's quite cute and innocent the rest of the time.

I second 1/2 Prince and The Legend of Sun Knight, as well as their novel counterparts, 1/2 Prince (Novel) and The Legend of Sun Knight (Novel)

i may be madly in love with nononono, but i think only gender-bender is to weak for this request. and also nono isn´t really good in acting as a guy XD and as kuorogi said there are some annoying parts lately

if anime are needed i would go for shuffle and school days. there are some really split personality girls there
