Okay, so what I'm looking for is a female lead who is broken/damaged. I mean that emotionally, like she truly can't love again or trust other people again. She can be like this from the start (born like that) or thtough a deception/tragic event she just can't get over. What the tragic event is, I leave it up to you, or rather, to the mangaka. Also, if you go for the ''tragic event'' (which I would prefer), she can be like this from the start of the manga (and then how she became like is revealed through a backstory/flashbacks) or you can actually see it happening through the manga, and you get to see her transformation. Also, how she was in the beginning doesn't matter, as long as she becomes damaged in the end.

Of course, because she is like that, she is a loner who doesn't have any friends (they either dumped her or she was the one who disranced herself from them). And now, after this part, the story can go in 2 different ways, which are both acceptable:

1) The heroine meets a guy who falls in love with her and tries to change her. She can't, but tries anyway, believing she still has a second chance to be happy. But then, even though she tries real hard to love him back, she sees in the end that she just can't love him, and that he's sacrifing himself in order to be with her. So she sees she's pulling him down with her and breaks up with him. They never get back together and she realises she can't love/trust etc. again, and goes on with her life, accepting she's going to be unhappy for the rest of her life. She may become very succesful in her chosen career, but she may never find love.

2) Again, she meets a guy who tries to teach her how to love and live again. She gives herself a second chance and begins dating him. She sees how much he loves her and how much he is willing to sacrifice for her, and is sad because she can't reciprocate his feelongs. She doesn't break up with him though, bacause he still makes her happy to a certain point, and even though she doesn't love him, with him she is happier than she was without him. So she continues to conciously drag him down with her. But then, after some time, she realises the happiness she though she felt was just an illusion, and that she can no longer do this. She thinks he deserves better, but knows that he wouldn't break up with her because he loves her too much. So she kills herself, thinking that her death is the only thing that will free him. In the end, she realises she developed some feelings for him, that she did this out of love for him, as much love as she is capable of. Unfortunately, it's too late, because she realises this while dying. (eg: she jump off from a building and realises this while falling or while being unconcious begore actually dying).

I know my request is somewhat cynical, but please bare with me and recommend me any manga you thing will fit. Big, Big plus if tha manga is completed. Thanks in advance, looking forward to your recommnedations!

From a review I've read Let Dai sounds like what you are looking for, though it is a BL and the girl isn't the main character.

thanks, though I don't read BL. GL (shoujo-ai and yuri) are fine though. But you were the only one to give a recommendation, so thanks wink

hmm...i think

GE - One of the leads has a tragic past and would like to give love a second chance

Orange Marmalade - vampire girl trying to adjust in high school life where she finds love

Suki-tte Ii na yo - A girl who doesn't believe in having friends becomes the love interest for the most popular guy in high school

These ones have all have sad lonely girls but since they're all ongoing i can't promise if anyone is gonna die soon none

You really should read Let Dai
It's not the main characters though - it's about the girlfriend of one of the main characters. Her story is really sad, convincing and worth reading! You can just skip the shounen ai-part, it's not really relevant to the story.

There are some other series with broken heroines, but they don't really fit your request.
Example:
In the Clothes Named Fat She's broken, but neither scenario a or b fit.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Her bf is just a jerk and she ends up alone

The one your scenario most reminds me of is Bitter virgin.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It's got everything you asked for, in terms of girl with traumatic past (rape) that leaves her broken and afraid of men. She leaves her old life with her estranged mother and friends and starts living on her own. Here she meets a boy and they start going out, however I haven't read the end so I'm not sure if the rest of it pans out the way you want it to

Haou airen
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
This fits in terms of the being broken as the series goes and then she attempts suicide, and they break up. Whilstthe ending is tragic, its not in the way you had it

Wolf guy-wolfen crest
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Most of the time in the manga it centres around 2 people that are loners, and whilst the woman is semi broken from past experiences she manages to keep it together for the most part of the manga. However a certain event (its extremely graphic btw, just a warning) makes her even more broken and ends in one of the scenarios you asked for

Fallen angels
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The main character is broken because of a past event involving a friend and though she does get a couple of guys trying to coax her back to her old upbeat self she generally lives like a loner. The manga isn't complete so I'm not sure what direction its going to go, but at the moment there's a possibillity she'll be killed for her past mistake

Love in the mask
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Most of the time the lead character lives, not as a loner, but alone in herself because she has to be a bodyguard to a rich madam. She falls in love with a guy and he changes her but due to her circumstances they have to be apart and she falls in love with another guy in the interval, but towards the end the twists and turns end with her forgetting a lot of what happened, broken in a sense and living without her original love

Paradise Kiss Um, well,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the ending really goes with the first example. She ends up with a great career but marries another guy. But I think it's the guy who rather brings her down...

Kagen no Tsuki Once again I don't really know how to explain this but there are broken people involved, and dying. Not gory stuff, but ghosts. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for...

Our Happy Hours Totally what you're looking for except
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
it's the dude that dies.

Snow Queen I forgot the ending of this but I can tell you that the main character has a broken personaility,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
attempts suicide, and gets saved by this dude. I think she dies because she has an incurable disease that gave her a low chance of survival
.

I'm not sure if these are what you're looking for but they're all completed and short except the first one.

Melo Holic? I believe this one would fit.
Well, you could say that mentioning the title here is already a big spoiler....
