Looking for an adventure, fantasy manga/anime, maybe a bit RPG:ish, with at least some romance and where the girl has already made a name for herself and is a well known 'hero' in the world.

And the guy(protagonist) is just beginning his journey.

Plus point if the girl is mature, strong, and though as hell, and not a damsel in distress.

No lolicon or tsundere please. And absolutely no rape or weird stuff or mind break stuff or puking, ugh. I rather it didn't have 'mature/adult' as genre.

I guess Claymore fits pretty well, however I'd prefer if the two MC where closer in age and not so dark.

you could try 1/2 Prince and ID though they dont fit all of your requirements, in ID the guy is just starting out but he is already super powerful, and in 1/2 prince they are all just starting out and it is an RPG

Guy is OP as hell, but learning to control it. Some tsunderes abound, but there are many different tropes. Quite a bit of fanservice too, but no full-on nudity.

I'm sorry, I can't do harem anymore... last night I began reading a manga, which had harem tag, but I figured maybe it isn't so strong... read the first chapter, great development between the mc and the girl, was actually suprised at this point at how good friends they became, and not just shouting and screaming at each other and getting into ecchi situations.. read 2nd chapter, still good, 3rd chapter still good... then BAM, 4th chapter, his little sister arrives and kisses him directly on the mouth.. and after that, all harem/ecchi/typical crap hell broke loose... dropped... and now my harem tolerance threshold is at 0

Anyways, I guess my main criteria sort of got lost in my main post... the main thing I'm looking for is a noob guy meeting an experienced and well known 'hero', who's a girl, and there's some romance between the two. And i'd prefer if it was in a fantasy setting, however I'm okay if it's in the present or future too.

As for ID I have tried reading it a couple of times, but it just never hooks me :/

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!" - Both characters already have names for themselves, but the female character (Demon Queen) is proposing a brand new method of peace and reform, so the male character has to learn from her.

Spice and Wolf - merchant/fantasy! Holo the wolf spirit is absolutely charming, and there's definitely romance between the two.

Otoyomegatari - it's realistic, but it's so gorgeous that it rivals a fantasy. There is an age difference, but Amira is so gorgeous so who cares?

xxxholic - Now, this is not strictly speaking romance, but there's strange tension that feels quite romantic in its own way. It's not an RPG-ish fantasy, but it Is a fantasy and a gorgeous one at that.

As for your request, I'm afraid I can't help you since I don't really like noob MC.
However, I'll put this if you wanna try Owari no Seraph.
MC not so OP, kinda immature/noob joining an organization fighting against Vampires in a dystopian world for revenge against his friends. Later on, there's 2 possible love interest in his team but it's nothing harem/ecchi.
It's a bit slow at first but it picks up later.

I've seen the anime of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, and I didn't like it that much.

I've also seen the anime of Spice and Wolf, and maybe I should pick up the manga, but I'm hoping maybe one day they'll make another sequel to the anime, in which case I'd prefer not to have read it already.

I've tried reading Otoyomegatari, but I don't like the 'seriousness' in the historical tone, or whatever... anyways, it didn't fall to my taste. Ah, noticed I didn't have it in any of my lists, sry if you went through the trouble... adding it now.

I think I tried watching the anime of xxxholic, but the art was really weird. Anyways I'll check the manga version, maybe I will like it better.
