Why?!

Why is this not licensed?! I want to buy this so badly yet it's not even available in my country! That's it, I'm learning Japanese, buying this entire series online and reading it! The art is wonderful and the story is intoxicating. It draws you in and doesn't let go. Highly recommended. I can't believe I ever skipped over this series 4 years ago but then again I could probably blame that on being a beginner to manga.

Greatest manga ever

Well, it is very hyperbolic but I'm just so pumped throughout the whole reading, I read this in around 2 days. If you like romance, you will love this, if you like survival, you will love this, if you like adventure, you will love this, if you like well rounded strong characters, you will love this. This manga is perfect for me. But it might not be another person's cup of tea because of the art. How do I say....its a bit hazy and sketchy. It invoke a lot of 'emotions' but not 'reality'.

As I said, the characters are all well rounded and strong. ALL of them. And they are not the same at all in what is their strength or their base character, it's their strength in doing their best to survive. Don't look at our MC initial blunders, she forge head on and that's why I love her.

A must-read

In a word - epic. I can't believe that this manga isn't more popular than it is, and that the vast majority of readers haven't even heard of it. Read it!! The backstory, the characters, the premise, the plot... everything is great! The only possible downside is the art, but don't let that stop you. In my opinion this is better than Osamu Tezuka's classics, and let's face it, Tezuka's art style isn't the most appealing in the world.

Also, if you find some portions of the story unbelievable in the beginning. Keep reading. There are parts that I found a bit ridiculous and I thought were exaggerated, and I later on found out that there were perfectly logical, mind-blowing explanations for why everything was the way it was. Do not for a moment assume that the author has not thought things through.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
For example, in the beginning I thought Hana was far too capable for a normal high school girl, and wrote it off as the author creating an overly perfect character to suit her own tastes. Boy was I wrong! Later as I read, I found out the backstory behind the training of Summer A and the fact that Hana's father has been secretly training her her whole life in preparation for the 7 Seeds project... so of course she is exceptionally well-suited to survival in the wilderness!

One of the best!

This is an amazing story not in just its interesting plot and plot twists, but also its outstanding characterizations. At first they seem unlikable and their disputes rather irritating, but at the same time the conflicts between the characters is what makes them extremely realistic. Like meeting someone new, the characters really grow on you with time as their true natures flesh out. No one is 'good' or 'evil' and no two characters have the same goal.

The actions taken by the government and government officials is also quite interesting, and slowly the last days of mankind are unraveled and the new world shown for what it truly is. Make sure to give yourself a long night to read this one because once you start, you won't stop.

Give it a chance and try to read it until the 3rd volume..I promise, you'll be hooked.

Here's my advice to anyone who wants to pick up this manga

1) ^^^^^ Read the title mentioned above ^^^^
2) You might not like some of the characters at first, and probably it seems so cliche with all the bad and good guys.. but there's a thing called the 'Character growth'? Yes, that is what the manga is all about. Even the most unlikable character (who you love to see them getting 'killed off' first) will become very LOVABLE as the plot progresses.
3) For a manga that revolves around multiple protagonists and characters, with a romantic subplot in a survivalist manga, it's very underrated and surprisingly realistic in portraying how normal people would react when they're being put into the same situation! ....unlike the sickeningly overrated survival mangas like Highschool of the dead and Eden no Ori

don't let the classical shoujo style art fool you. this is really solid character driven post-apocalyptic sci-fi. A lot of guys might get turned off by the shoujo art, but give the first volume a try and you'll be hooked. I was.

Don't stop trying to read it because of the art

This manga is awesome. I was hooked since the beginning even if I didn't like the art and the first main character at first. All these problems disappeared in a second. I couldn't stop reading it and I spend all night awake until I could finish all translated chapters.

It is very different from the other shoujos. We don't see much romance and that's what I'm really looking for to happen but it is great. I think all comments above have said enough about the history. So give it a try, you won't regret.

Amazing, intriguing and memorable manga

It is a must read.
I know it's an old manga and the art might be a major turn off but not to worry because you would eventually pass that because you would be focusing more on the story instead and forget about the art. What I mean is you would grow accustomed to it.
I was totally absorbed with the reading and constantly on edge to know what would happen next.
So far no other manga with similar trope can top this.

Also, there is an anime for this series created by Netflix and I'm totally disappointed how the anime doesn't do justice to this great series. I wish they could remake it.

I was in tears a few times then happy tears when good things happen. There not much for me to say since it's already been explain in other comments. If this is ever license, I will absolutely buy this manga. I give a 10. arive may look, pit off but give it a chance. it make me question life and my god i had tears when reread ch. You feel the mood of the characters.

Definite read

This work is so good, I know some people might get turned off by the art but once you get past that, it's just the plots and twists, the anxiety. What will happen next?
Everything is too creative. So much thought has been put into this. Like the author has thought of every situation, hundreds of alternate situations. Well thought out.
And towards the newer chapters above 100, you're like, Wow so many things have happened.. then they introduce like even more things that make you think it's endless like One Piece, you;re wondering - It's 100 chapters, when will it end? They are not even close to the half of the story.. or is it going to be a stupid ending where they realize they're happy and going to keep exploring their dreams. But that's unlikely, so just keep up with it.

I would advise that you wait a while before starting, because you're going to wait for monthly releases until you forget half of the things you read until they mention it.

To the person above me:
There are only like 2 or 3 persons that speak other languages, and the characters can barely survive on their own, let alone travel on sea to America and meet other people. Do you know how long it would take to travel around the world by ship? Like months! They don't even have suitable ships or even any supplies. It would be completely illogical if they set out to look all over the world when they haven't even made a suitable establishment. And the same for other countries. And no one said there aren't any foreign people alive! That's the whole point of having translators, duh.
