I saw the anime series for this (12eps) and it was really short, but lemme tell you, i've never laughed so hard at an anime! It was hilarious! And the fact that this story revolves around a female gangster- its just so cool and unique! I wanted to see more development between Shin and Yankumi, because at the end of the last episode you could tell he kinda started liking her. Looking for the manga now, i don't think all the volumes are out in english though. Highly recommended if you want a good laugh out of it!

This series just does not take the "yakuza heiress" premise far enough to make it feel as relevant as it should. It is reminiscent of GTO, however it doesn't have the same level of humor or wild antics that series had. It feels monotonous and while it does have some potentially interesting narratives that would have been fun to see develop, it ends too early for them to have an impact and the sudden romantic development at the end felt rushed and unconvincing.

i actually watched the drama for this first and i think i like it the best. although it is really short i really liked it. :D

Not GTO. Not a bad manga either. More serious and so, but with it`s jokes and stuff. Other style, in the end. It´s a Manga I recommend for everyone.

The story is not like others, it does not only focus on romance, but also endurance and how people grow and become better. How someone's guidance leads someone else's. Yankumi is a great figure of honesty and sometimes naiveness.. nonetheless Shin liking her, and knowing how dense she is adds up to the fighting of yakusa. The j-drama spin-off does not really show interest in the bonds between Yankumi and Shin .. but it does provide with the inside-world of Gokusen.

there havent been any updates by oblivious since july, are they still scanlating gokusen? there isnt anything on their website about dropping the series, but still....argh, i wanna read it so desperately, its very good!

This series is great. One of the best teacher series. It has a good style. The teacher is a fun character.

My only complaint is the one of the male characters. He... is disgusting jail bait for ladies. An effeminate, doesn't have to be here, genius, who's rich. His personality isn't totally bland, just mostly. Sometimes he makes a good straight man to the crazier things going on with a startled looked. But he's so bland I'm surprised they even give him such human reactions.

It's inapropriate, especially in a series that looks better than that, that acts better than that, who has a character that is better than that. That one aspect makes me dread the end, but it's also a haunting spectre that gives you a bad feeling while you're trying to enjoy it.

pretty good....but there's some student teacher thing....just a little bit...between red hair kid and the teacher.

apparently wait231(whatever it is) has no sense of humour, because this series is really really funny xD~ i mean...take a look at the general comments and rating =P
even though it might be like GTO, it's (in my oppinion), more refined than GTO, even in the level of delinquincy the main characters are in =3~ definetly recommended for a good laugh. i even got my mom hooked on the drama version =3

According to the other reviews, I thought that this manga was going to be funny. I read 20 chapters and didn't see a single joke. I guess the jokes must be the word plays in japanese?
