Description
From Del Rey:
Yamato is ready for a fresh start. So when his aunt invites him to stay rent-free in her big-city boarding house in hustling, bustling Tokyo, Yamato jumps at the chance. There's just one teensy-weensy catch: It's an all-girl housing complex and spa! Things get even more nerve-racking when Yamato meets his neighbor Suzuka, a beautiful track-and-field star. She's not just the cutest girl Yamato's ever met, she's also the coolest, the smartest, and the most intimidating. Can an ordinary guy like Yamato ever hope to win over a girl like Suzuka?

How can anyone like this is beyond me.....then I see it called realistic a lot and that just blows my mind, there isn't even an ounce of realism here. Sure it might include some serious issues but the way they are dealt with only happens in fantasy land and cheap soap operas.
Basically this manga is a ploy to milk as much money out of a successful project as possible (as are all of his projects with the exception of one-shots, which can be pretty good actually). I guess that's the author's choice, but it certainly makes me lose all respect for him as an artist. I accidentally started reading his current project without noticing it was Seo and paid dearly as it started following his typical formula once the original idea of the story was spent. From now on I avoid his works like the plague.

i must say this manga really drew me in. the way the characters developed and how yamato kept getting rejected and smacked really made me sympathize with him. really suzuka can be so insincere at times, can't she just apologize?
just like everyone else, felt that the ending was a disappointment and rushed. really unexpected that she would suddenly get pregnant to conclude the story. thankfully, the author didn't decide to have them abort or it would have become worse than it already is...

I found this series simply amazing. It was moving and very touching. The ending was something I wasn't expecting at all, and truth be told, I almost feel let down by it. However, I can't lie that it was still an amazing ending, even for one I wouldn't have picked.
Ultimately satisfied

Absolutely amazing manga... It was entirely satisfying and had what I think was a good ending... You wanna punch Yamato in the face a few times, but why would you continue reading it if nothing interesting happened? I recommend this to anybody at all... 10/10
I guess this is what they mean by classic Seo...

During my visits through forums, I come across this and his other current work Kimi no Iru Machi as being 'classic' Seo works. I had not read either of them, so I couldn't say what that was.
Until now.
It's your classic romance story. I got pangs of nostalgia - and it's not because my high school life was like that, but because I've seen the formula used in Suzuka a lot. I'm going out on a limb here and point at Love Hina - I guess mainly because of that hole in the wall.
It's not as bad as some other ones I've read, but then again, not many romance manga really stands to memory, aside from the most recent ones.
The idea is good, I guess, but then again, his other work (Kimi no Iru Machi) is pretty much Suzuka + his life back in Hiroshima - track & field. And even in Suzuka the track and field kind of get pushed aside in the later chapters.
The story is okay. I have to say it does get repetitive, but I also have to say that I guess that's what unrequited love feels like. I also have to mention that it's not as much a harem as much as it is romance - the guy does have some standards.
The art; beautiful. Nothing much to be said about this, I can't really pick at a flaw... well, if I had to, I guess one of the girls kind of looks like Suzuka - but I also guess that that was part of her charm, and consequently, why Yamato has trouble deciding.
What else? Ah, I felt the ending felt rushed. After building up all that for 16/17 volumes, it only takes 1 chapter to resolve the problem. Again, not the worst ending in the world (that, I believe, belongs to School Rumble) but, you know.
I came across Suzuka while looking for manga that was similar to any of Adachi Mitsuru's work. The best way to compare the two is I suppose Suzuka (and, Kimi no Iru Machi) are more focused on the romance aspect and, more targeted towards the teens towards the young adults. I can't say that Seo balances both romance and sport at the same time. He's either one or the other (and I suppose he's given up on one, good choice) so Suzuka was, to me, a testing field for his current series.
There are times where the series works, and times where it's slightly frustrating. However, I'd be flat out lying if I said I hated this series, so yeah, give it a read if you want a romance that stays away from what most shounen romances try to do (pour on and on more female protagonists) with a flavour of track and field.

Definitely my favorite manga. There's just something about it that gives it so much more life compared to others such. I absolutely love the characters and the way the story unfolded (and ended), and was kept on the edge of my seat (emotionally) the whole way through both times I read it.
I was so sad to read the last chapter.
READ IT you won't regret it! .. probably, anyway.

this manga has something which mostly other manga's Don't, i don't what. But if u don't actually see the chapter no. u'llbe amaze that how many chapters u have read and how much time had past. This was a GREAT work by seo kouji (actually his all manga are worth reading) But this type of series u won't find easilly.
the plot was so natural, and the flow and growth of character was so good that it seems almost real.
this was the best romance manga i have ever read(so far)

male lead does something wrong or theres a misunderstanding or something dumb happens
female lead gets mad
male lead grovels and apologises
relationship+1
repeat
the manga does not stray from this process even once. you keep on reading, praying for the time when the guy will just smack the bitch, but it never happens. Suzuka is ALWAYS right, even when shes not right, you better pretend that she is. its a constant one way chase scene with the male lead wearing a dog costume and her whipping him into submission. the female lead will never show affection or apologise first, EVER.
its too bad, the plot is pretty good, and the romance development nice, but the main female lead will ruin it for you, completely. if there was at least a couple of times where she showed sincerity or understanding or at least developed some then this manga would have been great. however this is not so.
recommended if your a masochist and you enjoy smashing your face against the wall

Might be the best love, school life, sport, drama manga I've read... Wish there were of this type out there... but no... Well reading SEO Kuji's new serie now Kimi no iru Machi and its holding the same standard
Here's whats wrong with the rest of the lovedrama ones out there:
*Slapstick to the point of no return
*Corny/silly/stupid Main character... Well most manga characters in this genre are kinda stupid... but there should be a limit...
*The artwork... COME ON! i wanna be able to grasp the feeling or the characters emotion/intention by the picture alone... some look like they're about to cry 24/7... Be realistic, that would make it a tragic manga right there...
*Not Barbie and My little pony cute... Im not 6.. And for those who are... well theres always, My little Pony to watch! Want some maturity in there as well thank you!

It took me awhile to finally finish this manga, yet I loved it until the end.
I don't even know why, but I loved it the whole time. Yamato and Suzuka had their ups and downs, yet they still made it through their problems together. The last few chapters were really cute too. It was a good ending.
Reading SEO Kouji's other works.
