While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers and tasked with saving the human race from extinction, Hajime’s job, a Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with nothing but a glorified blacksmith’s level of strength?

Teenagers wet dream.

Well, good start and first two arcs, after that it's a complete downfall. In later chapter pretty badass character turns into complete chuunibyou profile of some fourteen year old virgin. From merciless anti-hero to wimpy edgy brat. What a shame.

Problematic Surprise: Protagonist becomes lolicon (unexpected)

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Though poorly written (typical of a web novel), the beginning was interesting enough. And if you knew what you were getting into (wish fulfillment and OP main character), it was a sufficiently entertaining read.

But halfway through volume 2, there is the introduction of a 300+ year old mutsuri vampire loli-baba. Obviously, that was a big warning sign. It was tolerable at first, but gradually the interactions got more and more annoying (intimate). By the middle of volume 3, it's clear they are a "thing" and that the protagonist had become a lolicon. I tried to ignore it and keep reading, but the interactions are too overt and constantly forced on the reader. Additionally a thawing mutsuri loli comes through quite clearly in text, so it's really not possible to ignore. Personally, I'm too disgusted with it to continue (I got to the end of vol 3 ch8).

This development was unexpected as the series seemed to initially be leaning toward a normal romantic interest (if any at all). False advertisement. The series needs a loli tag on it to warn readers. I feel like I wasted my time.

This manga is an incredibly quick read since the author keeps you guessing where the story's going without using cliffhangers to produce tension. Story elements wrap up very nicely and although I was prepared to dislike the bunny girl due to the other reviews on here, she's has grown on me quite a lot as the chapters go on. Now the dragon girl on the other hand...

For those who like Harem with a really OP main character

This is not for anyone. This is a straight wish-fulfillment story of ordinary guy turn badass via pure plot device. It's all about the glory of the OP MC and his harem, so if you like that kinda story then give it a try.
I'll admit that I score it 10 is mainly because I'm a sucker for OP MC, and not the "he's OP but let's give him some troubles cause it won't be fun that way even though he can handle it easily" kind of thing. In here, the MC doesn't f*ck around. Many of those scenes were played for laughs too, sometimes accompanied with his harem members.

Anyway, if you like overpowered main character who goes around the world with beautiful harem members and meeting people who are jelly with his circumstances and him putting them in their rightful place, then this one is for you.

So Violent it is fun

You know I read through the series and yes the premise is near stupid, yes it has issues but whenever I read the latest chapter I smile because it is fun to read, you always hear about magic and magic power in fantasy settings but you know what the hero is usually just a standard hero with standard values, the reason this series is so well liked would be that the hero just doesn't give a **** about pretty much anything and is super violent that wins a lot of points and when he fights it is more about seeing cool battle scenes then about development of character in combat. I suppose the best way to describe it is the protagonist doesn't have stupid developments like villains being buddy-buddy with him afterwards, mostly because they are all dead when he fights them.

The other point is if you want to look at the overall premise it would be regaining one's humanity as the theme.

where you can read chapters 100-125 excluding the chapter 122 which is a status plate chapter.
To all of those who said that Hajime's motivation is a little dry as he is only trying to go back home. Remember he is still an Otaku and has tons of anime he still needs to go back home to watch.

The main character is a classic case of took a level in badass several times after he is forced to solo a dungeon armies have been unable to complete.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He essentially went nuts after being abandoned and maimed and his support preventing him from going completely over the edge is his harem.

The underlying theme of how much humanity the students can retain in a situation where they are forced to make life or death decisions is not new but it is done well here. The teacher agonizes over the conflict as many students blindly goes to war seeking fame and fortune, some seek nothing more than a way home and a few bad eggs plot each other's downfall out of jealousy.

My one complaint is that the story seems to avoid darker themes despite always being on the border of it. Rape and slavery pop up in the background but its victims are not seen yet. It may be his preference to avoid such details as he similarly prefers to leave details like sex scenes out of the story, leaving such things to the readers' imagination.

Oops. Spoke too soon about the slavery part.

Good time passer, however...

Although it was executed poorly, and one of the characters are annoying (shameless rabbit), it still is a good time passer. Not as bad as everyone says - if you don't delve deeply into it. Of course, there are times where it becomes unbearable and even I skip a few parts. However, this is still (somewhat) quality time-passing.

TLDR; only read it if you're going to pass time.
