Heart throbbing tear jerker, but definitely worth the time!!!

WARNING:THIS IS A ROMANTIC TRAGEDY!!!
If you are looking for a manhwa that will make you cry from the emotional and real life drama this is the one for you. I was at first skeptical because of the name, but had decided to read it because of other reviews. It starts of with an unrealistic scenario of the Cinderella fantasy, yet gives you the hardcore heartbreaking troubles that come with an "dream-come-true" life style like status, guilt, and regret. This story takes a twist to the typical rags to riches plot. Others stories have depicted the troubles one will have to go through to "keep their love", but no author has gone as deep as Wann. The author portrays the characters thoughts and emotions so well that there is no possible way the character growth can be called underdeveloped. The best part is it doesn't have the dramatic but short break up, sobby tears, and stupid worries, and obviously expected reunion that other shoujo manhwa couples have. Whle reading this I was pretty concerned that they weren't actually going to end up together. This couple really had to struggle to find happiness. This series had me crying half the time because it made you realize how fragile love can be, yet strong because it evolves.

You will not regret reading this!!!
The only reason it is nor getting a 10 is because I'm angry at myself because I cried so much!

Overall good

Read this one a while ago, but having read another story by the author I decided to give it another go. It still holds up pretty well, but it's not exactly perfect or unique and it has quite a few flaws.
The pacing at the beginning was great, with the characters getting introduced in an interesting way and the narration flowing slowly yet steadily. The issues are presented clearly and the dialogues have a charm to them which catches the reader's attention well.
Unfortunately, as many have stated before me, after a while the story falls way too deeply into the depths of exaggerated, soap opera-like melodrama. It begins dragging and beating a dead horse as we see the characters repeating the same mistakes over and over again, simply for the sake of drama and (probably) releasing more volumes. Honestly, it should have been much shorter than this and I would have had no complains.
Overall however I don't feel like giving it a much lower rating. It's an entertaining read nonetheless and kind of a guilty pleasure. The art is nice to look at and it has managed to get an acceptable ending. If you are looking for an outstanding romance story this isn't it, but it reads easily and you can still use it to break your boredom.

The drama

As with almost all of the reviews here, the drama is a bit too much. It was great in the beginning, but the drama just got too much.
The arcs flow pretty well to another. The art is fairly decent and unique(at least from my selections of mangas).
There is just...to much...drama...

i give this manga a 10, i really enjoyed it, it;s very hard to find a manga with a good possessive lover these days, i loved how he wanted her no matter what and how he fell for her so quickly. I also enjoyed the art, exactly my type
best drama

I thought the guy's love for the girl at the beginning was cute because he was so lovestruck. I don't usually like 'love at first sight' but i felt that they pulled that off well enough. That being said however, the middle manga gets a little bit TOO dramatic for me - to the point where I ended up skimming through the pages because I didn't know why I was reading all these events. I don't usually dislike thisgenres but I just couldn't really keep up with the flow - the 'drama parts' were supposed to be intense but i found them boring because it's repetitive breakdowns, flashbacks, emotional outburst > which leads to trust issues. I was more interested in Jay & Jarte's interactions, hoping they would just make love & restore a healthy relationship.

The characters are people you may like and hate at the same time. I liked the female character for her sense of morals but there are times where her decisions frustrated me. I liked the male character because the poor guy was trying hard to prove his love but then he gets a little too possessive and irrational? I say, give the manga a go and see if you can get past the drama & characters. The art is gorgeous too, especially the guys.

I hated the first 2/3 of the story... but the end was so sweet that i can't hate it anymore

There is WAY too much drama for the first 2/3 of the story. So many guys fall for this girl that it's ridiculous. Literally every male character that gets a decent amount of screen time is in love with her or obsessed about her. Also, the poor girl goes through so much crap that I feel bad for her.

She is almost killed on multiple occasions, and everything always seems to go wrong.

But the story was also surprisingly realistic. The girl's logic and thoughts were wise and very grounded--to the point that I was impressed. Everything in this story is likable... but THE AUTHOR JUST PUTS THESE CHARACTERS THROUGH SO MUCH SH*T THAT THEY TURN EMO SOMETIMES.

I honestly think this author is a sadist.

I really feel bad for these characters... I get why they go psychotic sometimes... I would have gone crazy too.

I almost loved this manga.. Until it started to seem all over the place..

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
it started off with a sweet boy meets girl storyline.. With a bit of sad comedy to it.. Then it drastically turned into big drama.. Which was not bad (and juicy in some parts), but it went on for too long I find.. It was interference after interference.. And no matter how crazy the king was getting I actually fealt for him. At first it seemed like Jay was a nice strong headed girl to a stupid and stubborn fool. She's weak then she's not. The poor guy spends the whole time trying to prove himself to this chick that keeps acting stupid.. Even in the 1 week! Of coma she was willing to sleep with a total stranger?!?! Then end in romantic comedy again!

It's admirable to try to fit all kinds of genre into one manga.. But in this case I find it unnecessary and just too much.

Artistry is beautiful.. Maybe alittle too beautiful when it comes with the men.

This was a very full of different emotions story. Even in the beginning, there is already much feelings running through my veins, there is quite a lot of sadness felt by both of the main characters. The story is always having some dramatic scene that turns everything upside down, though so dramatic, it is so fun and exhilarating to keep on reading. When put in family relations and connections here and there, the story gets more intense. Once both the two main leads grow further apart, it makes you wonder how will this story end with a happy note?(cause u know it ain't a tragedy genre story) How will both of them reconcile...it makes you wait and anticipate for the beautiful grand finale.

The good thing out of all the problems, is that they really do only love one another, that is the best part of the story. Read this accompanied with Sam Smith's Stay With Me song, for the parts where he lost her, is like adding oil to the already intensely burning fire. Other good parts was when she realized he is still and was always totally in love with her in vol.9 chap.2, chap.73 page 15 too was also great, all this scene is Jay knowing Jarte's love for her, cause i feel that she's always doubting his love, sigh, that's why i love it when she knows his true feelings for her. The last part of chapter 79 was totally da best! i think out of all manga/,manhwa history, it made my heart beat really fast the whole time, even when i look back at it again, it still made my heart flutter. The last few chapters when they finally got married already was quite hilarious, funny the whole time. Another good part was when Jarte trusted in her and gave her the documents regarding CEO Choi, cause trust is really hard to build after their horrific past. And haha Jarte that can sense his love near him is such an awesome lovely totally romantic sixth sense man! But amidst all that, one still wonder how big is their age gap?

I think its one of the best manhwas out there! I mean the beginning was just sweet. I absolutely loved the idea of a king (with capability, status, money and looks) falling for a girl, not for the previous reasons but purely because shes perfect for him. Also the art is another story, simply beautiful!.

it started off all nice and shoujo, but later on things started to get a little too dramatic to the point it was annoying. jay turned from the sweet, kind-hearted innocent girl to an absolute bi**h. and I couldn't understand why jarte was holding on to her. I mean it wasn't even normal love, he turned into possessive obsessive monster. they were going back and forth without giving us (the readers) a chance to rest, I think that the author should've distributed these events in a longer span of time maybe.

After all of the craziness, finally we got our chance to rest when jay went to New York, every thing started to get slower and kind of nicer. This part till the end made me fall back in love with this story.

It is a really good manhwa and the story is amazing, If all these events drove you crazy just leave it for a while lol.
Recommended!
