I only buy manga that I really REALLY like.. as in, the story has to have a high re-readabilty for me to consider buying it. So far, the only series I've completed collecting is Beauty Pop, and I'm in the middle of collecting Eyeshield 21 and Oresama Teacher.

For the most part, though, I usually look at Half Price or ebay before buying it new. You can save so much buying it used biggrin

And no, I would never buy digital manga (One Punch Man is only released digitally in the US -_-). I've heard horror stories about Amazon deleting your account along with all your digital purchases... I'm not gonna risk going through that.
And besides, scanlations are basically the same thing lol

I like buying physical copies of the manga series I really like. However, collecting all volumes is kind of impractical, so I choose the volumes that I buy.

So far, I have most of the volumes of Bleach (Soul Society Arc), the last volumes of Lovely Complex and Ouran High School Host Club, a couple of Ghost Hunt, and all the volumes (so far) After School Charisma.

As for digital manga, I never tried it and never will. I don't like the idea of not being able to read them when I'm offline.

I mostly buy stuff which I like (so only after having read the scanlations). Started buying in 2013 and own 140 volumes now, with another 45 volumes being shipped.
Buying them from Japan, cause they cost are cheaper than in my country (3,3 Euros for a volume + 1,3 Euros for the shipping (on average) [buying 10-20 at once helps keep the shipping cost low, if one can wait, if not... SAL takes 2 weeks and costs like 50 cent more per volume]), which is cheaper than the 7 Euros here (long ago they costed only 5 Euros), and the creator gets more out of it.

My small collection includes (counting shipping and ordered stuff)
Angel Sanctuary 1-20/20
King of Thorns (actually this is the only exception, i've seen the movie, but havent read it) 1-6/6
Hunter x Hunter 1-32/32
World Embryo 1-11/11
Darren Shan (nor sure why i bought this one anymore) 1-12/12
Arago 1-9/9
Enigma 1-7/7
Alive: Saishuu Shinkateki Shounen 1,2,7,8,10,11,15,17,19/21
Akuma no Elevator 1/1
Darker Then Black 1-4
Magi 1-22/23, 1-4/4

Doesn't mean they have any say in decisions. Bad, lazy management, terrible style guide and inferior infrastructure are the problem, not where some of the employees learned their trade.

I used to buy a little bit of manga every now and then.
I would go to Borders and browse their manga section for something.
Occasionally they'd have sales where if you buy two you get a third one free, so that's when I would usually try and find something interesting and pick up a few volumes.

That being said, I haven't bought manga in... probably about 5 years.

Anyway, my collection is as follows:

"Et Cetera" vol. 1
"Eureka Seven" vol. 5
"FLCL" vol. 1-2
"Genshiken" vol. 1-2
"Initial D" vol. 2, vol. 3
"Jing: King of Bandits" vol. 1-5
"Jjang" (a.k.a. "The Boss") [manwha] vol. 1-2
"Lagoon Engine" vol. 1
"School Rumble" vol. 1
"STONe" vol. 1-2

I also used to own a copy of Initial D vol. 1, and Eureka Seven vol. 1 but I sold both of them on ebay a while ago.
The same goes for another manga, named "Remote", which I collected all 10 volumes of. Despite liking the manga, I read it once and was just kind of done with it, so I ended up selling it on ebay for a pretty good amount, since they were in really good condition. smile

Anyway, I don't have much interest in collecting manga at this point in my life, being totally broke. Perhaps someday in the future.

I probably spend about 50 to 100 bucks on manga a month... which isn't very much now that I think about it... the low number mostly has to do with Barnes and Noble being far away and BAM! not letting me have my discount if I order books they don't have. (if BAM! has it online, why can't the store just order a copy and sell it to me normally like Barnes and Noble does? =_=; )

my manga buying habits have increased quite a bit since I got out of college... during college I was broke, so it couldn't be helped, but now that I have a good job...

Though I will only buy manga that I've already read online, If it's good enough to be on my updates/read list on this site, then I usually buy it.

My current manga buying series are: Ao no Exorcist, Gangsta, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Kami-sama hajimemashita, Until Death Do Us Part, Vinland Saga, Reimei no Arcana, Magi, and InuYasha

I have all of YuYu Hakusho and all but the last 2 volumes of Baby and Me (they're out of print so it was hard) and that short series Rabbit Doubt. oh and I have all of Black Bird

I'm thinking of picking up BTOOOM! and Vagabond too... if I can finish some of the completed series.
I'm probably biting off more than I can chew, but most of those are monthly releases anyway...
