Like the characters from Special A and Koukou Debut, I want a girl that is anything but normal, it can be strength, tomboy going through a transformation, finding love in particular places or unexpected way, from a wealthy background, a part robot or something, this main aspect may be something in which we know from the very beginning or don't know till the very end.

I would prefer to read something in which is ongoing and not on hiatus or hasn't been updated in a while, also must contain some aspects of romance, I like a little drama or bit of supernatural and fantasy, not so much historical and mecha unless its a must read. Definitely not a shounen, seinen or yuri reader, however will be willing to try new things especially if its a must read or a-can't-be-put-down-read.

I don't mind if the story is set in the present or future, if its in the past I won't mind too much as long as you think its good 🙂 .

i probably shouldnt even bother mentioning them, but skip beat and tokyo crazy paradise are exactly what you are looking for.... other than that angel densetsu is a shounen and martial arts.... surprisingly little focus on serious fighting tho. its mainly romance/comedy and gives a rather different feeling from the regular shounen. if you run out of shoujo recs, or just decide to try something different, you should give it a shot.

Kyuuketsu Yuugi - I had a hard time with the first couple chapters, but after that I couldn't put it down. (I felt the same as you with Tokyo Crazy Paradise by the way - I only kept going because I love Skip Beat so much - It wasn't until a couple volumes in that I got hooked)

Hana ni Arashi - super strong girl.

Hana no Namae - as a girl going through a transformation. It's one of the beautiful/sad ones - though its not a tragedy.

Sarashi Asobi - the girl is a super tsundere 🙂

For the ongoing ones -

I'd actually suggest Hiyokoi, although at first the girl looks fairly typical for a shoujo, I think she's getting pretty interesting as the series goes on - though that could just be me.

Goong might fit - the girl marries into the royalty from being an ordinary schoolgirl.

Oyayubi kara Romance Girl is brilliant at massages - sounds odd, but I really liked it. This is completely released in US (Magic touch), though the online scanlation is stuck.

Toshokan Sensou: Love & war - another english release (Library Wars: Love & War), not online so much. The girl is very dedicated and keeps up with the guys around her.

try Himitsu no Ai-chan. i really love it! ongoing. it's about a girl, who is a basketball player, her rival is one of the team as well. they hate each other firstly. the girl isn't girlish at all, but both of them are very possessive and quick-tempered. 😀 but the guy is a little bit calmer than the girl. im sure, you will love it, because one of my favourites the Kokou Debut as well, so try it! 😀
