I'm so fed up with some fantasy manga lately. (the reason I choose fantasy is because we'll find more of the unique manga there, but if you can suggest something that's not of fantasy genre its fine also as long as it's not really typical)

ISN'T THERE ANY INTERESTING MANGA?
I hope u can suggest something with "different idea" and "unique storyline".

An example of Different, Unique manga..
- Tower of God
(unique concept here: tower to climb and everything u want is up there)

- Dice: the cube that changes everything
(unique concept: the dice that can upgrade urself(even your look) in reality, quest that's not your fantasy-manga, everyday kind of quest - love how the main lead never get carried away and forget his true self)

- one piece
(unique concept: pirate with devil fruit ability and grandline)

- Shingeki no Kyojin
(unique concept: the titans that no one knows where they came from, began to obliterate humanity)

As u can see, these manga is very different. They're so unique that if you just mention its concept in one description anyone would get what manga you're referring to.
Things like ninja, samurai, vampire, mafia, yakuza, magic are just SO BORING!!

And if you can help it. I would like a good one (That's why i ask about your 'favorite' manga). And it would be great if the main lead is very likable - I love how these main leads from my favorite manga is a nice person by nature and strong-willed at the same time. (doesn't matter if the main is hero/heroine or anti-hero like in Berserk - really love the concept of the eclipse ceremony)

*please read the 4th comment before you suggest* biggrin (it's my comment)

I like Onepunch man
Unique: The strongest male character right from the start but he knows nothing about... how the world spins

I like Paperakyu and Kisswood (one of my all-time favorites) a lot. Kisswood has unique art and a very unique story about a man who loves his little garden in a futuristic urban city. But the garden is burned and he goes into a coma that brings him to the world dead trees go. Most of the men trapped there were people who killed trees, but our protagonist saved trees from being killed in the past. He is one of the only ones who has a chance at leaving the world.

Thanks guys but I don't think you get my point. no

by unique storyline I mean unique setting like,
in that manga, their world is different. Like how things that shouldn't existed indeed exist.
Like how things work in manga is different from what we've known for our whole life.

The examples are as I've already list here, in Tower of God there's no out world there, they're only world with Tower and they called people outside the tower "irregular". In one piece, things like devil fruit exist and the story focus on world in grand line. As you know we don't see cars in one piece isn't it? Also the other stories focus on Titans and Dice which never exist in our world or in other manga. This is what I called "Unique Storyline".

If you called the manga with different beginning plot unique, then any manga will be unique. laugh
So If you know any manga thats like that please tell me. I don't want the quantity so don't suggest anything that you like, just the manga that fits. I know it's hard to find that's why I create the topic here.

Okay so I get what you mean now. Your new explanation clarified so many things. In that case...

I feel that Double Arts would still work as well as Full Metal Panic! In FMP people are still living on as if the cold war never ended which is unlike how it should be.
Nowhere Boy might fit what your aiming for.
Eden no Ori In this story the characters have no idea where they are and think its just some island when there is really so much more going on.
Aphorism could potentially work as well.

Maybe you're searching for a unique setting more then a unique storyline, then? If you said you were fine with something not of the fantasy genre, then stories that take place in our world are bound to be suggested. Not criticism here, just trying to understand better what you mean in order to help you smile
You probably know about it, but since it's not on your lists: Fullmetal Alchemist: alchemy obviously XD
Others that may fit:
Iris Zero it has a peculiar fantasy element in our normal world
Pandora Hearts definetly not our world; there are mysterious creatures called chains that can form contracts with people and...let's say it's complicated XD also with elements from Alice in Wonderland.

You should have titled the thread for unique setting then instead of storyline.

Tower of God is not unique storyline as most of the story elements are ripped from other mangas like Hunter x Hunter, SAO, etc so nothing unique even in the setup... as those things already existed previously like a tower where people don't live outside, people get their wishes etc... combining few ripped elements don't make a setting unique as every author use already existing element differently. Oh well...

Toriko Perhaps. If you like One Piece then...

This one is probably a bit obvious choice and I bet you've already read/watched it, but since I'm re-watching it right now, I have to mention Hagane no Renkinjutsushi. <3 roll

Nothing else comes to my mind for now..

Lets see... there's quite a few actually. Mostly animes though, since mangas... well, I can't think of any atm. The "uniqueness" apparently doesn't stick out very well for manga when it comes to my memory lol. In any case, most of them, watch anime, not manga. Cause I dunno about it.

Some fits better than others, and some I have no memory at all. I mean, there's some REAL old anime in there too... can't expect me to remember something from over 10 years ago can you now? Then again, there's more than that that I forgot... Ahaha. Heck, there's a few I never completed, for one reason or another.

+Anima
Code Geass
Dantalian no Shoka
Guilty Crown
Gun x Sword
Haibane Renmei
Himitsu
Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo
Howl's Moving Castle
Jigoku Shoujo
Jyu Oh Sei
Level E
Loveless
Mawaru Penguindrum
Munto
Mushishi
No.6
Occult Academy
Ookami to Koushinryou
Petshop of Horrors
Shin Sekai Yori
Spiral - Suiri no Kizuna
Steins;Gate
Tegami Bachi
Tonari no Totoro
Trigun
Trinity Blood
Utawarerumono
Wolf's Rain
xxxHOLiC
Zetsuen no Tempest
Bakemonogatari
C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
Higashi no Eden
Karigurashi no Arrietty
Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa
Kino no Tabi
Kurenai no Buta
Le Chevalier D'Eon
Michiko to Hatchin
The Third: Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo
UN-GO

That's enough for now, will come back later. My RAM's screaming at me for too many tabs. >.> Was gonna type descriptions, but halfway through I got lazy and couldn't think of anything, so deleted all that. You'll have to read the summary yourself and decide. While you said not quantity, I do think a lot of these are unique enough to fit your tastes.

There was one more I read years ago... definitely unique, and very confusing. I had all sorts of series spinning around my head but no one knew what was actually going on... Lemme think what the title was...

As for my favourite... Ehh... Code Geass. But that one doesn't fit as well as some others. And I know there are some that are REAL good and fits perfectly in there. For example, I can tell you right away Mawaru Penguindrum is something that will throw you off your tempo. It's plain weird. But for some reason or another, it's not bad at all.

Dorohedoro A manga where there are magic users )who each have their own unique type of magic), humans, devils. Pretty unique.

Soul Eater People turn into weapons and go to school to learn to reap souls.

[m]Hunter Hunter[/m] Lots of unique stuff here but you don't really come across it until a couple volumes in.

Blame! Just about everything here is pretty unique.

Some of my favs with likable male leads (to me)....

D.Gray-Man - Unique for being one of the few non-seinen shounen that doesn't rely on fanservice and filler story/fight arcs to draw out an interesting plot. The setting is set in Victorian era, which itself, isn't unique. However, the story, itself, says it all. It isn't black and white. Sure, it got Akumas and exorcists, but, many of the characters have a depth in their backgrounds. The world mirrors our own, but at the same time, it's a different world that has humanity on its heels. It's also unique for having a mangaka, who takes several breaks due to poor health, but always tries her best to let her fans know that she's still alive and kicking in the most vague ways. ^o^

Lessa and its sequel - Unique for taking the power of an immortal being and put that power into humans turning them into immortal demons. And this is all done without the involvement of biting or scratching another person.

Automata - Unique for when the programs and viruses, living in the computer realm, start to come out into our reality to play....... And, the humans go into the computer world as part of the job only to sometimes end up being stuck there forever. If you start feeling a little confused on the terminology, that's okay. That's a good sign as to how unique this webtoon is. (Note: It's pretty sci-fi, but to me, it has that magical fantasy feel to me in a way of their abilities.)

I second Kisswood. It's a beautiful webtoon~!

I second Double Arts as there's no other shounen manga like it with two people stuck together like that. ;__; Too bad it got cut.

The Gamer - There is no other story/world like this. When real life starts turning into an RPG all around you, what would you do? If you have the ability to level up in real life, what would you do?

Like a Bird - Unique for the world's setting and all of its inhabitants who live in it. Everyone there prize drawing as a high ranking ability and a big mystery around a mysterious ink splatter-ish mountain. If you feel a bit confused in it, that's the story's uniqueness playing at your mind.

Clay Lord - A world where living clay is a way of life for everyone there. It's kind of magical, but, I bet it involves something in the genes as well, but that's my theory.

Owari to Hajimari no Miles VERY unique world. Just read it out of curiousity.

Otherwise...one of my favorites with a unique world would be Trinity Blood (which has been mentioned in that huge list up there).

Aria and its prequel Aqua
Unique concept: Mankind had terraforming mars and made a replica of venezia called neo-venezia. Also, all gondoliers in neo-venezia are cute girls.

Lasboss x Hero
Unique concept: About a manga author that trapped inside his own manga.
