I've been wanting to make this request for a while now and I don't really remember what inspired me to look for something like this, but thinking about it now, a good example of this would be Elfen Lied, and maybe Tokyo Ghoul

I'm not exactly looking for the person to be an actual threat, It can also work if the person is only perceived to be one.

The person or person's race should be one that, when a human with knowledge of them sees them, the only 2 normal reactions would be to either try to attack them or run away.

And one more thing: It would be best if the story is told from the human's perspective.

If you recommend something, I would really appreciate it if you could put a short description of what you are recommending and why it fits.

The main guys like this... live alone shape shifter... and every human on earth wants to exploit his powers so they send armies... then one day a genius boy scientist comes to persuade the shape shifter guy to hep the earth by under going experimentation.. and well.. the two become friends... the story to told by the shae shifter guy though....

Lessa should work, the main charcter is sort of like the origins of all demons, and the demons are trying to kill all humans right now, but it takes awhile for him to be friends with the human main character.

Superior - she is the demon king and he is the hero that was suposed to go and kill the demon king, but she pretends to be just a human and travels with him on his journey to kill her(the demon king)

and maybe Ajin, about humans that when they die become ajin, an ajin is basically a immortal being that has this shadow thing they can control. most of them do not want to harm humans at all but the world sees them as horrible creatures and experiments on them. the main character becomes one and the only one that will help him is his childhood friend. its not from the humans perspective though

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro MC is a demon who eats mysteries.

Yu Yu Hakusho Same as above. There are demons. Some of them are MCs but most you wouldn't want around. Some demon MCs you still wouldn't want to go near.

Stuff other than demons:
Dorohedoro In this manga there are magic users and humans, and magic users tend to go to the human world to practice magic on humans. No one there likes magic users. Also, there's more than just magic users in this manga that fits but I'll try to keep it less than spoilerific. My fav manga.

Shingeki no Kyojin Titans... Any further explanation might be spoiler if you weren't already familiar with series.

Verdant Lord Walking weaponized plants... nuff said.

zion There are judges who control special seeds and it's kinda their job to destroy cities
