I don't know if it could fit, Mahou Sensei Negima!... for his age Negi is not so spineless
Maybe also School Rumble, at least it's not your typical harem.
And if you can consider about watching an anime, I'll suggest you Kimi ga nozomu eien.
And I have to agree with x0mbiec0rp about Ai Kora.

You could try Rosario+Vampire
Story wise the manga isn't great, but the artwork later on is beautiful.
Also the male lead does have a bit of a wimpy side to him but at the same time he does kick ass
Note R+V is a real long shot for what you're after.
I also recommend Ai Kora

I am not sure if this counts but Ranma 1/2. Sure Ranma may be a bit unsure around the Ladies But he kicks ass, and hates being treated like a girl, (even when he turns into one).

Ranma 1/2 Definitely counts! It is both harem and reverse harem. Ranma has at least four girls after him and Akane and Shampoo have a list too.
