Here are the percentage of series on the site
Manga = 80.3657%
Doujinshi = 16.5068%
Manhwa = 1.5363%
Novel = 0.6704%
While the percentage of novels on the site is small at the moment, if they continue to allow web novels to be ...
To be fair the number of series doesn't mean much; it's the number of releases (especially in the past 6 months) that matters. The fact that the spike in popularity of novels and the huge decline of manga from 5-10 years ago has lead to light/web novels overtaking traditional manga. I don't think that's a bad thing but for some it is. I think the problem is made worse for them by the database because there isn't enough sorting options for this. Adding a novel genre will allow for release filtering of all novels (you can already block novel groups easily enough already), and add genre filters for other areas like top 25 will make it better for everyone if that allowed for searches for new or top 25 Shounen or Yaoi instead of getting 20 popular webnovels and 5 of their webtoons.
As for the issue with published doujins, webtoons, and web novels, I agree with the need for not adding self published series but there's no reason to deny a real, officially published series because it doesn't have a manga/print adaptation.

Starbucks doesn't suddenly start selling pizza, either, just because they have a lot of customers.
For someone, who seeks genuine data about manga, this site has already gotten pretty useless.
Starbucks might not sell pizza but they do sell things besides coffee to their customers like pastries, teas and complementary products to coffee. As I said above, the reason this database has gotten kind of useless isn't the amount of data, it's the lack of ability to sort the data in meaningful ways. As someone who has been using this site for over 13 years I can say there really hasn't been any major changes/improvements to the site in general. Release filtering improved by adding an option to filter out groups other than that the database features are virtually unchanged. Implement those kind of changes takes time and expertise so its not a simple matter of just add in this or make a new site from scratch.
