what are some really popular yaoi series?
the kind of series that every other person in this forum read and liked?
some things like

Okane ga Nai
Finder
Crimson Spell
Totally Captivated
Hoshi no Yakata

come into my mind
anything else big?
of course, it naturally won't be a one-shot

Anyway, I guess everyone has read Junjou Romantica or at least has heard about it. And of course Gravitation. I didn't particularly like either, but a lot of Yaoi fans have read them.

Maybe only "big time" in my own mind, but here they are:
1999 Shanghai - Poetic.
Boys Next Door - Heartwrenching.
Doushitemo Furetakunai - Solid.
Future Lovers - Cute.
Gerard & Jacques - Intellectual.
Loveholic - Lovely.
Rika the Breeder - Provocative.
Rules - Expressive.

Others that are arguably "classic," but I'm ambivalent about:
Chintsubu - Worth reading for the crack factor.
Complex - A bit annoying here and there, but the ending just nails it and makes it a must-read.
Kusatta - Old school cool.
Haru wo Daiteita - Famous for a reason, but tends to be melodramatic and mindlessly smutty.
Love Mode - Another old school one.
Sex Pistols - Definitely creative, but gets stranger by the minute.
Under Grand Hotel - I would rate it higher if not for the fact that I have a knee-jerk reaction against the idea of prison rape being romantic at all.

Total mindf*ck. =|

I started reading after reading your post. It's late so I needed the lols. XDD Crack is right. XD

I'm just glad I'm not a guy 'else I'd see things in a completely different way. 🤣

Other classics:
Cut
Ai no Kusabi- Have not seen or read this yet, but the OVAs are always praised when BL anime is mentioned.
