this manga is a really good and i mean what i say i thought of reading this to pass time but now wow im soo glad i came across this manga because of this manga i no longer judge a manga by the cover im likee in love with old fashioned drawings like this one and the story progression as it goes on better and better showing yuri mature into a woman and the hottie kail to show his true caring side !
i highly reccomend this manga to all shoujo manga readers !! no matter what the age !! you will not regret reading this manga PEACE

A gripping story that should not be put aside despite the quiet old art style, this is still one compelling manga. The only negative side is the repetitive plot line of anyway this manga is absolutely worth it for shojo readers!

So I've picked up this manga after putting it on my wishlist for a long time since I'm not sure if this is a good manga, although I've seen a lot of people recommending it not to mention that there's 28 volumes which is another reason why I'm not reading this yet since I'm not a fan of manga with long volumes. But, I'm kinda happy that I picked this up. Although at first I'm pretty irritated with Yuri defying her love for Kail, just because she's from a different "era". The another thing that I dislike is the constant kidnapping of Yuri. It's a bit annoying that she gets kidnapped every single story or scene, although she can still mingle her way out without relying on the help of Kail. Her bravery is what I admire of course! Not to forget that the people who spoils my mood by making their appearance is Urhi and that wicked Nakia. But overall, it's a good story although so many good people died. (I cried when Tito...uh, I better not say it. You guys should read it!) Since the ending is a happy one, I'll recommend this. :3

it was quite long but it left nothing to ask for. most of my questions were answered and it was worth the read. (i finished it in only 2 1/2 days )

it's a mixture of romance and history and i see her actually growing. it's more believable since time is moving unlike usual mangas where the heroine is set to grow mentally and emotionally in a short span of time.

There wasn't anything to hate, on my part. I was a bit worried about whether or not i could tolerate the art since i can't stand the earlier manga art but i was proven wrong. everything was drawn simply yet elegantly. all the characters were beautiful and the story is realistic in a sense that there are war strategies and a strong sense of loyalty and honor.

all the characters were great, including all the antagonists(there were a lot). The protagonists were adorable!!!! I just loved them!

all in all, this manga was worth the read and it gives a sense of finality that most mangas don't give.

you should try it.

The story is interesting but it kind of drags on. When it ended I was just glad it was done instead of wanting to beg for more like you would after reading Basara. Also some of the ideals in the story just make it seem forced, hinder the progress and make the story less believable. Like how the king, a war hero, basically refuses to have anyone executed, including the main villain of the story. sorry, i'm going to have to call Bullsh*t on that.

anyways, don't get me wrong, its a good manga and an enjoyable read, its just not a great one. I'm giving it 8/10

At first I was...sort of skeptical about reading this since I am very particular about what manga I read based on (for the most part) the part of the manga. Just based on the art itself, I could already tell that this is an old manga (older than what i usually go for, lol). But I know I shouldn't discriminate based on that--it's just that I have such a hard time reading a manga if the art is sucky. The style is quite apparent. However, based on very good reviews and recommendation (searched for recommendation manga similar to "Shirayuki" manga), I started reading it. It's...very long. So be warned. Haha. I started reading this while I was supposed to be studying for midterm and got absolutely sucked into it that I couldn't stop. I lost sleep reading this. Tis' absurd. Anyway, as I read it, the art is actually very, very well done. It's in a different style than I am used to. This kind of art is so much more detailed and proportional that I know it must have taken considerable more effort and skill to draw it. It's very stylized--however you wanna take that comment.
The story is quite well done. There's so many twists and turns that I couldn't get tired of it. Things never really turned out the way you want it to. Though,...I do agree to some extent that the evil queen plot may be a bit repetitive. Personally, i don't really mind that much .Yeah, sure it's cliche, but I'm more into the romance and military advances than the queen's attempts to kill Yuri.

People you don't want to die, died. It's kind of sad, but I guess that's what makes the manga sort of realistic in that it doesn't discriminate characters. Umm... I was a bit put out for a while that the main character (Yuri) seems to be relying too much on the Prince (Kail), but then later on in the manga, she started to develop reason and good judgement. She matured a lot as the story goes on--not as fast as I would have liked. (Also it seemed that sometimes everything just sort of...fall in to the lap without her doing anything significantly brilliant). But she did, and that's why I classified this as a coming of age manga among many.


Highly recommended.

Ok , so I think I've read enough to finally say my review and up till this point I've really enjoyed it , I like the romance between the prince and yuri the settings great and so on but blaaaaah the whole evil queen thing is getting soo repetitive !! It's the same senario over and over again , the queen plots somethingup they get confused then finally catch on but when they do its too late and one person dies ...this is all I've seen through out and it gets tiring you know but I admit I have read a lot for the first time in one go so maybe that's why ?? Anyway this is great apart from that and I really dont want this to be a manga where I end up skimming through and eventually skipping to the end , I'm gonna have a little break for now:


EDIT ! AWW yeah it was pretty good but its just not a 10 for me it was ok , nice ending and all and the mangaka really tried to please her readers. people are saying this was amazing blah blah etc but for me it was just ok ..the ending was good but it left me saying " oh , ok so that's nice neeext" it was nothing life blowing it was like a little typical loong fairy tail but one thing I can say is I read it all the way through without skipping which is actually amazing for me so that says something EDIT ::I finished it and I really enjoyed it.Edit: read it lookes back on it now and I wish I was still reading it...

This is an awesome manga,hands down in my top 10 easily, if not in my top 5.
I have never found another one even close to being similar to it, so if anyone has suggestions that are simmilar to this manga, not necessarily in plot but in the lovers aspect, and is reading my quick review, I would love you to mail them to me through this website!

I fell in love with this series the moment I started reading it. Now, I read it over and over, and I never get tired of reading it. It's my all time favorite. The best historical-romance manga that I've ever read. I recommend this to those who like to read historical-romances with princes and royalty.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I adore this manga so much. it's....just amazing. I love the story, the characters, it's just divine! it's my treasure, I read this 7 times and I still adore it. I love how Yuri grows from weak and whiny to strong and determined, and Kail has his own interesting personality but he still doesn't let it get in the way of his job as a leader to his country and people. I love this story! This is truly a classic to me, and I will treasure it forever C:
