Very gloomy req. this time!

Looking for a manga where the main char dies at the end (or even continuously, I mean like in Aeon Flux she dies at the end of every single episode lol).

Has to be THE main char or the main char's love interest/best friend/other main char. Not just a minor characrter!

Also the char has to die at the end. I don't want something where, like, the guy's wife dies at the start and then he spends the whole manga avenging her - no, it has to be a main char that you get to know throughout the manga and really start to care for, someone who you've seen develop and then who dies AT THE END. Not at the start! It's at the end - or at least after many volumes of really seeing them close up, seeing them alive and playing a major part in the manga so that they appear on every other page, and you get to see them all time. Until they die. ;_;

I never read tragedy normally, I'm terrified of it, but I figure it's time to face my fears... with the worst kind of tragedy there is.

Aren't we spoiling you now?!! ;__; Thinking of these deaths make my heart ache already~ And lol, none of these are Shoujo/Josei, which I'm sure you're used to reading. O_O;; I don't read that much of them.

Basilisk
Battle Royale
Bradherley no Basha (despite being short stories, it's still very gripping)
Claymore (you don't need the read the whole manga actually, and the death takes place early on, but nonetheless, very sad just keep reading 'till some major character dies, and then you can decide whether you want to continue reading it or not)
Dangu (this one is kinda sad in the beginning too, plus it has a determined female lead whom I love (♥) what more do you want~)
Death Note (you probably already read/seen this)
Gantz (lol, it has quite a bit of nudity/ecchiness in the beginning, but it lessens exponentially throughout the manga, plus, it deals with existentialism issues and stuff)
Higurashi franchise (you might want to watch the anime first -- although it is kinda mediocre, still enjoyable, I suppose, or I wouldn't be recommending it? -- anyways, anime isn't necessary, since the manga is superior, IMO)
Kurohime (yeah, yeah, I know it's ecchi, but maybe you'll like it? I'm only suggesting this since another girl who isn't that fond of Ecchi DID like this manga... also, try to bear with it for a few chapters, it needs some time before it "gets really good", lol)
Umineko (love this series, plus it's loosely related to the Higarashi franchise)
Zetman (has some tragedy moments)

If you want anime as well, I could suggest you some.
