Ah, goodness. I don't know what it is but romance adventures are always my favorite. I have three that I obssess over:

Basara
Kanata Kara
Immortal Rain

I love them so much! The exotic setting! The characters! The adventure! The interesting storyline! The couples in Kanata Kara and Immortal Rain are my favorite while in Basara I loved the amazing storyline that developed the romance. Oh Izark and Rain, they are so sweet and wonderful and I love the main characters because even though they are all strong leads they are intuitive. I love Noriko's gentleness, I loved Machika's acceptance of people, and I loved Sarasa's determination. All around, in Basara I loved the storyline, in Immortal Rain I loved everything, haha mostly Rain himself and in Kanata Kara I loved Noriko and Izark together, if I could marry them both together I would biggrin So, yes I am looking for an adventure romance that has those elements or simply made you happy because of its wonderfulness. Threads are fine. I prefer the lead to be female but that's only because its what I'm used to, if there is any great shounen or male lead manga like this that will be a good starting point for someone like me who would new to shounen or such, then please suggest away!

Kanata Kara and Immortal Rain are my favourites too smile Here are two you might like:

Miriam (and the sequels!! It's by the same author as Kanata Kara)
Innocent Dragon

If I remember any more I'll update this smile

How about Fushigi Yuugi , Dragon Knight , Watashi no Ookami-san
Blue Ramun , Angel Sanctuary , Merupuri (though there's not much adventure) , Ao no Fuuin

I second Fushigi Yuugi
Also, you've probably read this, but Inuyasha is really good. A long epic adventure, with good amount of romance and romantic tension/love triangles.

You're welcome! I just started reading it, but this one seems promising too: Tsubasa wo Motsu Mono biggrin

Immortal Rain is possibly my favorite manga ever.

Try Superior. It's really great, and I personally love the artwork.

It is Shonen, but it reads and seems a lot more like a Shojo... It was my first Shonen manga, and I think its a great starting point if you want to get into Shonen (Now I read more Shonen than Shojo).

Good luck! smile

I second Superior. ^^

Kaitou Saint Tail is cute, though the adventure isn't the exotic setting type.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - haven't read the manga yet, but the anime is great.

1/2 Prince takes a while to get deep into the romance, but it's so sweet when it does that I have to mention it. >> Also has a ton of adventure.

I know that you mostly read shoujo but i just gotta mention some shounen titles that i think fit...

Full Metal Panic! and Full Metal Panic! Sigma are great on both romance and action/adventure. It does contain some parts which are supposed to be comedy, though personally i am not such a fan of those parts. Sigma is more like an adventure but the first part is also great.

Change 123 If you can look past the ecchi parts this contains some nice romance coupled with action/adventure.

Dollgun Similar to the above that it includes ecchiness.

Give some of them a try, they fit the categories you are looking for even if they are not aimed at the same audience. If you like them there are quite a few more shounen/seinen titles that fits your criteria.

biggrin They definitely fit the criteria and dude, they sound really good. I'll give them a try and this is a stupid question but what ecchi mean? Sometimes I think I know what it is but then I don't know if it is what I think it is, and then it continues to remain elusive.

According to the genres link on the menu to the right, ecchi is "possibly the line between hentai and non-hentai, ecchi usually refers to fanservice put in to attract a certain group of fans." Basically, you get some "dirty" pics... tight clothes, cleavage, and panty shots, but usually w/o getting too graphic.

Thanks for this thread, btw. I've bookmarked several of the reccs already! biggrin

I'm not an avid shoujo reader and the only one not mentioned here that I can suggest is Vampire Game which I think it's very similar to the ones you mentioned in the first post. And I didn't have personally read this one but when I think of shoujo+adventure+romance my mind immediately goes to Anatolia Story so I would at least check that title (actually in its page its first two recommendations are Basara and Kanata Kara, so it should be very similar to what you asked).

If you want to try a shounen/seinen from male's POV without ecchi I'd go for Spice and Wolf, Vampire Juujikai, Chrno Crusade or 3x3 Eyes (I was reading this last one as a kid so maybe my memory could play a trick on me). All these ones have their female lead playing a very important role (I'd say in some the female role is even more important than the male one).
