Hello guys, I have stopped reading mangas for many years now and would appriciate if anyone would be so free (bored.., or even helpful!) to write a list of what you think were great new mangas of past let's say 5 years (can be older too but chances are that I already know of them).

So I should specify what kinda lists i would be interested in hmm. I stopped reading mangas for reading books instead, mainly fantasy books. I love long, detailed, complicated, meaningful worlds and characters. I like comedy but silly is not my thing. Also I'm a guy and can spare me the yaoi, shoujo type mangas. Seinen and shounen mangas are welcomed.

Thanks for reading this and if you write a list I'll be sure to check it out. Have a nice day!

I suggest trying Oyasumi Punpun. It's not fantasy though, though it does have some surreal elements.

Akame ga KILL!
Pandora Hearts
Blood Lad
Superior Superior Cross

I love those type of manga too! so i have a couple that you should like if you have not read them already

Chang Ge Xing -this one isn't fantasy but is a very detailed and beautiful manhua, its about a princess getting revenge on her uncle that killed the rest of her family. she pretends to be a boy and travels around trying to gather an army to rebel.

Shoukoku no Altair -this one is not fantasy either and is about a young pasha of Turkey traveling around getting more experience to fight the great empire. he is a pretty naive character at the beginning but is also very intelligent. this one is pretty detailed but is more politically complicated then anything else.

Bokura no Kiseki -ok this one is Josei, however don't get it mixed up with those typical romance shoujos (not that all of those are bad) because its not! it might not have as much action as shounens or seinen but it is a very complicated and amazingly told story. this one is mostly about mystery, the MC is trying to figure out why he was betrayed in his last life, and though a lot of people say this manga is confusing, it isn't as long as you take the time to get to know all the characters and how the fit into the story. because there are a lot of characters and they all have a part to play in this story even if it doesn't seem like they do at first.

also if you dont mind novels Rakuin no Monshou (Novel) is a very complicated series too, but i know a lot of people dont read novels so ill just end it with the recommendation.

If it's not limited to just manga I would recommend

Tower of God
Ares
Fantasy World Survival
Gepetto
Lessa and its sequel
Magician (KIM Sarae)

There's a lot more but that would get you started

As for manga

Magi
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
Hito Hitori Futari - one of my personal favorites
Sidonia no Kishi
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!"
Noragami

Afterschool War Activities - as a manhwa, the pacing can be a bit stilted, but i do think the human element in it is very good
Binbougami ga! - this is not very unique, but i do think the nakama of girls is quite interesting as they are not one dimensional like most manga
Crimsons - Akai Koukaishatachi - i think the life and death of these fishes is very interesting
Himizu - no grandiose world, but a look in a depressive killer mindset is not a typical fare
Kami-sama no Iutoori (FUJIMURA Akeji) - very cool shounen

Kubera is extremely detailed, extremely complex, and has massive world-building and characters. It's actually too complex for me lol, but I think it fits your criteria: it is fantasy & shounen; there are plenty of "silly" moments (but it is so dark that the silly moments are needed); and it currently has 200 chapters, which apparently is only not half of the story (so it seems pretty slow). Additionally, it was originally supposed to be a novel.

second Tower of God & LESSA
maybe City of Dead Sorcerer & TAL

Pandora Hearts
