So i finished Superior †. and due the fact it being overall shorter as well as the fact the cat was out of the bag. I feel like this series was slightly better than its prequel. However the author at the same makes the same mistakes. Again i enjoyed the first volume despite it basically being a recap of the series. I think the author once again did very well in establishing the world. But beyond that i think the author made the same mistakes once again. With Poor execution. This time however i did think that some of the characters outside of the main 4 were better written specifically 2 of the villains. the action in the last half of volume 4 and the first half of volume 5 was actually exciting. In the end i think the author does a good job here and there but with the ending i just can't see this being a must read. I get the hype for this series but the execution is too weak for me to fully enjoy it.

6/10. Fun at times

the ending left me REALLY dissatisfied! I really enjoyed how I enjoyed the entirety of the story, if only it weren't for the ending! Ugh. This is my first shounen ever, so I was a bit hesitant, but I actually really enjoyed it.

The art is really great, in spite all I say below and me giving this series 6, if someone rescanned this series with truly HQ scans, I would read it again, for the art. The covers in themselves deserve significant praise, and are worth more than the series itself as a whole.

To go into detail, the characters, were all very likable and fun, with an interesting premise, so the potential was there, but the story never delivered. The translation was pretty bad, so maybe the actual story is better, but what we English readers get is a pretty childish, repetitive and horribly paced story.
The moral statements were done so poorly it was a little insulting.
Too bad.

I really hope this author collaborates with a good writer, then we would really have something going.

Well it was a bit darker then the first one (which I like), and the artistry perfectly beautiful; even when it's ugly. But it felt like it needed more fighting then just a show of violence.

The manga was a bit more serious than the first series but well worth the read. Things get better, more action, twists, and to top it off it has a happy ending. If you read the first series you have no choice but to read the second because you will need closure The only warning I will give is this one ends like most romance manga released today which is conclusive, happy ending

I totally agree with Paragoge's review.
The story was promising, the characters were too, I mean the Hero and the Maou fall in love throughout the story, they help each other and whatnot. However the story twists were regular.

One of the top Overrated Manga in the History of the Universe.

I liked this one, but you have to read a few volumes in before you really get back onto the plot line of the previous season. If this story had just kept going and didn't have the break between the two, I would've scored it higher.
Over all the plott is really good and I love the character growth!

...and yes, it is enjoyable. The art is beautiful, the story is decent (though easily predictable) and it leaves you with deeper thoughts sometimes... just don't expect something insanely deep or anything: you'll be disappointed. Especially with the ending.

Soooo so unbelievably silly, soo cliche, soo shoujo in all the worst ways... LOVE IT. lol.

Somewhat of a parody of rpgs/fantasy/shoujo/bishies. Don't take it too seriously.

Sappier and less believable than the first half, still a guilty pleasure though.

PS how the heck is this shounen? female lead, crowd of bishies, shoujo art, barrels of sappy hello-oo, ring any bells?

(This is a review of both Superior and Superior Cross)

In the beginning, I liked Superior. It was cute in that it was like an RPG with a party that included a hero, the hero's right-hand swordsman, and a mage (and later, an assassin-type) all out to destroy the Maou. And I liked how it handled Shiela's fear of the inevitable day when the hero realizes that she's the enemy, and how desperate she is to keep her identity secret. I looked forward to how Exa and the others would react upon learning that Shiela was the Big Bad they were out to kill.

But when Exa finally found out... let's just say I was not impressed.

I also found the ending rushed, and didn't make a whole lot of sense (or maybe that was just the scanlation).

All in all, it started out pretty good, but devolved into a rushed, mediocre manga that left much to be desired.
