Wonderful! It was just wonderful! Despite Rain being the main character, I can't help for fall in love with Yuca!!!! His story is sooo painful and sad. He just felt too lonely that he wanted someone to wait for him, which was Rain. I teared up like a baby!!!! I don't know why people are giving this manga so much negative rating when it is very original. And I like a little gore here and there so I think this was perfect. Machika was a strong character and very talented. ARGHHHH I never wanted it to end... Very good manga, read it if you like Kanata Kara and stuff. Great work, keep it up managaka...

I didn't think it would end so beautifully. Don't you all think that Rain is like Vash the Stampede? He's immortal, loves humans like nobody, doesn't want' to kill nobody and is simply stupid (in a cute way) at certain times?

It's tragic, uplifting and beautiful. The characters are wonderful, especially Rain and Yuca. The flashback scenes made me cry once, but I was not sad with the ending. The art is great, and there is a great use of facial expression. Rain's smile could make you warm up inside, and he's a drawing. Normally, these types of shoujo have a really angsty lead male (like From Far Away), but instead we are given Rain, who although has had a tragic past (which is what made me cry), still manages to have that heart-warming smile and a sense of optimistic hope that makes him so loveable. I do not get what these critics are complaining about. |The are teeny flaws in pacing, but so what. The entire manga is wonderful.

For those who liked this, Fullmetal Alchemist, From Far Away (for the romance/some of the plot), and Red River (ditto) are what I would recommend trying next.

I have to say that I've just spent my whole night reading this series since a lot of people said this one was great.
To be honest, those first chapters really amazed me, I thought this manga was gonna be cool. But then, the plot was going nowhere and I didn't really get what was going on. By this I meant why did Yuca have to do that to Rain? For what? He made everything seem so complicated. Luca was meant to be a villain in the beginning, well it seems like that to me.. but when he was reborn.. I don't know, he became kind of sweet.. The heck? When I was reading those conversations of Luca and Rain, they were always like "I don't want you to forget me.." "I waited you for 600 years", something like that. It feels like they are lovers O_O Seriously, when I'm reading this series, I feel like this manga has more shounen-ai elements than shoujo's, however, it's just my personal thought.
Furthermore, when I finished this series, I was like "Ohh that's it? So.. what was this manga really about like seriously?". Also, the way the manga ended just didn't make any sense.. How could Luca save Rain while they were with that giant monster? I know the mangaka aimed for a happy ending, but this one sounded just like fairytale.

The artwork is nice, not my type though, but it looks beautiful. However, I think the mangaka draw guys better than girls.

Simply Fantastic

The storyline it had was great because it branched out to so many things - adventure, painful experiences and emotions, and the sweetest romance you could get. The mangaka did a great job with introducing all of these - as the storyline was not cluttered, confusing or leaning too heavily on one genre. The characters were also one of the best qualities of this story. They were lovable, genuine (especially Rain and Machika) as well as dynamic and twisted. The story takes you through the journey of the "immortal" and the pains and consequences that it comes with. It ventures deep through the characters past, and the pains of utter loneliness almost flawlessly. And I personally enjoyed that it had a happy ending, which was not cheesy or too abrupt, but rather deserved for all the characters. Though the story was a bit long, once I got into it it had me hooked. T'was simply fantastic.

This was the first shoujo romance I ever read (I really dislike the genre, but finally decided to give it a shot) and it'll probably be the last...cause nothing of the genre can compare! I just love this manga. And this is coming from someone who hate shoujo romance biggrin

I really like the art in this one. Also, the fact that there's a human element to it all makes the story even better than most mangas out there. Following your heart doesn't always get you what you want here, and yet they do it anyways. I love it. The relationship between Rain and the others is played out well, I think. Distinct emotions put into actions and words unspoken go a long way in this one. Overall I give it a 10!

This manga is by far one of my favorites. I can (and have) read it over and over without getting bored or tired of it. The characters are great, the plot is great---- it's all great. It has action, comedy, tragedy, romance, the whole package. I really like how it isn't a typical shoujo. There are no bubbles and flowers floating around randomly in the background. Even better, the heroine actually has a backbone! And the hero is someone you can really feel for. This is one of the few mangas that has actually made me cry. (a lot)

I recommend it!

One of my favorite mangas from Tokyopop ^^ Everything about the manga is refreshing: the characters, the plot, etc. I love how there's always that aspect of romance through it all, but never to the point of corniness (as someone else mentioned). There's plenty of action/adventure and drama as well, so I'd have to say that Immortal Rain is a manga for anyone and everyone! I'm a diehard shoujo fan and I must admit, this was a wonderful change from my usual large eye pretty face sort of artwork and cheesy romantic plots. 5 STARS!
