To actually be on topic, I'll give you this: list of games based on anime/manga

Quote from Hermit-chan

Saw it. I thought it was cute. But that's not my point.
My point it that Ookami-san was written before superior... So~

Oh that. No, I was meaning to compare the plot between the two mangas. They both have similar themes but different plot.

I'm getting so sick of 'cute' shoujo-ish storylines...I've just noticed that my Public reading list is flooded with shoujo genres.. My personal definition of a good manga is its PLOT. (no cliches...stereotypical characters..)

Erm, yeah, like most people I'd asume...
But it's still cute.
Don't you like cute? 🙂

.Hack overall background feels a bit empty though, contradictory to the usual MMORPG feel where servers usually lag at the HUGE masses flocking at places like RO's Prontera.

Okay, so if you liked Dragon Quest: Great Adventure of Dai, as stated in your first post, you may want to check out it's relatives:
Dragon Quest: Monsters+ A sort of continuation of the story from the first Dragon Quest Monsters game.
Dragon Quest: Tenkuu Monogatari It's based off of Dragon Quest V.
Dragon Quest - Princess Aleana Based off of Dragon Quest IV.
Dragon Quest: Maboroshi no Daichi Based off of Dragon Quest VI.
Dragon Quest: Eden no Senshitachi Based off of Dragon Quest VII (on hiatus while the author works on another Dragon Quest series, can't remember which one exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was one of the Emblem of Roto spin offs, either Roto Returns or Emblem of Roto: Those Who Inherited the Emblem.)
Dragon Quest: Emblem of Roto Takes place in between Dragon Quest III and I.
Dragon Quest: Torneko no Daibouken 2 Um, actually I still need to read this one. The description here says it's about Torenko, his US release name is Taloon, who originally came from Dragon Quest IV but he starred in his own game, Mystery Dungeon, a spin-off of the Dragon Quest series. This series is listed as 2, but I can't seem to locate a 1.

Dragon Quest Manga that, apparently, isn't on MU yet. I'll see if I can fix that.
-Dragon Quest: 4 Koma Manga Theater A series of 4-koma with characters from all the series at the time of release. There are a ton of theses, some of them even start with 'another' or 'yet another' in front of them, which can get confusing, as Dragon Quest 4-koma 5, Dragon Quest Another 4-koma 5, and* Dragon Quest Yet Another 4-koma 5* are all different books. Haven't seen any in English though, sorry about that.
-Slime Great Tactics A series about Slimes, yup, Slimes.
-Slime Morimori Another series about Slimes, based on the games.
-Dragon Quest: Monster Story A manga that just gives backstory to a bunch of the monsters.
-There are several more that I can tell you about if you are interested, but these are the ones you are most likely to find.
-Emblem of Roto Returns and Emblem of Roto: Those Who Inherited the Emblem are both related to Dragon Quest: Emblem of Roto. Roto returns was a really short series, I think it was only a few chapters, but I'm having a hard time tracking it down, the other though is a full blown series, which has been running since mid '05 and is still going. I know it's doing at least marginally well as I saw some merchandise, a calender and a few others things for it at the last con I was at.

Now, for something really, truly AWESOME~?
Dragon Quest e no Michi Yup, now I know there isn't really any info here at MU yet, but I'll fix that in a minute. This is a series about the making of Dragon Quest, well more like the start up of Enix until the release of DQI. All the characters are real people that worked for Enix.

Okay, and now I'll take a little braek and make a list of manga based on other RPGs, then one based on Visual Novels and the like.

Shingetsutan Tsukihime
sequel: Melty Blood

Even though there isn't a game for Valkyrie Profile: The Dark Alchemist, it's still a good series from what I have read.

Here are some manga based off of RPGs, as it looks like that is esentially what you are looking for:
Star Ocean Series
Star Ocean: To the Far Side of Time Based off of the very first Star Ocean game, which never saw an official US release though there is a fantastic fan translation patch out there by the lovely DeJap should you ever want to play.
Star Ocean: The Second Story Based off of the second Star Ocean game, which was released in English.
Star Ocean: Blue Sphere Sequal to, well, a sequal. Based off of the GBA spin-off of Star Ocean: The Second Story, with the same title.
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Based on, you guessed it, Star Ocean 3 (Star Ocean: Till the End of Time).
Star Ocean 2 Second Evolution Based off of the PSP remake of Star Ocean: The Second Story. But this time it's Rena's side, which is a bummer because Crawd is so much cooler. Let's see if something media related to SO2 will actually get finished this time.

Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem 6 ~ Another Story - The Champion's Blade A side story of FE 6, the one that has Roy for those that are as confused as me about the difference in numbering between US and Japanese releases.
Fire Emblem: Ankokuryuu to Hikari no Ken Based off of Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
Fire Emblem (SANO Masaki & WATANABE Kyou) Based of the original Fire Emblem
There are a number of other Fire Emblem manga, but I don't really know enough about them to recomend them to you.

Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Link's Logbook
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Zelda no Densetsu: Kamigami no Triforce (HIMEKAWA Akira) A new version of Link to the Past
Zelda no Densetsu - Kamigami no Triforce (CAGIVA Ataru) A really nice version of Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1992) The oldest version of Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Genso Suikoden
Genso Suikoden III As some one else previously states, this is AWESOME and you should go read it right now.
Gensou Suikoden V Based on the fifth game in the series.

Others (If no notes are added, it is based on the game of the same name):
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XI : The Out of Orders Based off of Final Fantasy XI, MU says cancelled, Japanese wiki says three chapters were released before cancellation.
Persona 3 Based off the game, be prepared for amazing art but a sort of bland protagonist.
Persona 4 Based off the game, still great art, better protagonist.
Tales of the Abyss Based off the game, there are a number of sodestories for it as well
Tales of Destiny Based off the game has a sequal called-
Tales of Destiny 2 Oh boy.
Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut Story told from Leon's point of view.
Tales of Eternia I love this one, based off the game
Tales of Phantasia Another fun one.
Tales of Innocence Based off the DS game
Tales of Legendia Again, based off of the game.
Guilty Gear XX Based off the game that Bridget came from. Oh boy!
Kingdom Hearts Thought I'd mention it and it's sequel-
Kingdom Hearts II as well as-
Kingdom Hearts - Chain of Memories and that's all three of them.
Oujisama Lv1 Base off of a visual novel game that reads like an RPG, so the manga does too, which is why this gets put in this list.
Oujisama Lv2 And the prince has leveled up!
Wild Arms - Hananusubito Probably based on one of the games. I haven't played enough of them to recognise this one, but the manga is still really cool
Wild Arms XF Oneshot, despite what MU says, it has been scanlated, good luck finding it
Wild Arms the 4th Detonator Haven't read this on e yet, but I love the artist.
Xenosaga Episode 1 Based off of the first game.
Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose Based on the second game, pity no one is translating it.
Makai Senki Disgaea Based off the game, also has an anime adaptaion.
Makai Senki Disgaea 2 Based off the sequal game.
Radiata Stories - The Epic of Jack Based on the game, Jack's side of the story.
Radiata Stories - The Song of Ridley Based off the game, told from Ridley's point of view.
Ys mask of the sun Based on the first Ys game. Despite the two year break in scans, it is now com[pleted.
[m]Breath of Fire - Ryuu no Senshi[/m] Earliest Breath of Fire manga, which despite it's age has only recently been translated
Breath of Fire Part II: Chiisana Boukensha Focuses on Ryu kid.
Breath of Fire: Tsubasa no Oujo Another telling of the story
Utsurowazarumono - Breath of Five IV Based on the fourth game. Love the art
Do Your Best, Chrono-kun! Short for Chrono Cross, but it's still pretty nice.
Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana Based off the game, looking like no one is going to finish scanlating, which is a pity.
Ragnarök: Into the Abyss Manga that would eventually spawn an MMORPG, which in turn would spawn an anime which would itself inspire-
Ragnarok the Animation Grafitti A manga based on it.
There are also a number of smaller stories put out by Enterbrain, which does a lot of video game related manga, like Rockman etc.
http://www.mangaupdates.com/publishers.html?id=56

If you ever need more, let me know, I have a bigger list.

Oh, and this!
Manga based on other game types:
Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles ~ Houkai e no Jokyoku It's the one with Chris and Jill, I'm not really into FPS.
Gyakuten Saiban Based of of Phoenix Wright , as is-
Turnabout Crossover And both are out in English
Togainu no Chi Really great art, based on the game. It's on hiatus because the publisher is bankrupt
Togainu no Chi (CHAYAMACHI Suguro) Probably a better read for you, it's all the awesome of TnC without any boy's love.

from what I understand both Zero and aflame inferno are based off of games too, though both series are Manhwa.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana .

Ah, I did, but I can't find any complete scanlations, if you know of a group that finished it, please update on the page for it here?

And, um, not sure if any one mentioned this one but it all of the Pokemon series are based off of the original games, and some of them are based directly on the games themselves.

I can make a list of them all if you would like. I can't believe I forgot one so glaringly obvious.
