hmmm... havent come across many mangas like this, so will ask here.

Im looking for a manga in what people would consider an Immoral main character in it. For instance, Someone who has no qualms about making some other poor shmucks life a misery and has absolutely no issues with bending societies rules if they want to. Im not necessarily looking for someone purely 'evil', in other words someone who would go on a killing spree without a second thought, but someone who has serious psychological issues that kinda makes you like and hate them at the same time. Someone you could relate to because of the circumstances in the story. For instance, they may be like they are because of some traumatic past perhaps.

errr... I guess Death Note is such a character with psychological issues, but I hesitate to use it because I consider the main character more 'evil' than anything else although thats a matter of interpretation. But if anyone has any suggestions for a character they would consider 'Immoral', no matter what they interpret this as, that would be great. smile

If your not too adverse to violence (including sexual violence) in manga try Berserk, the main character is a fairly cruel psychologically tortured character.

Another one of the big ones to try would be Elfen Lied, one of the main characters (I'd personally say the series has multiple protagonists but she is close to being the lead one) is a merciless killer (even having killed other children as a child) but not out of any evil but due to the pain she's felt through her life and is lashing out.

Once again Elfen Lied is pretty violent, also both series are extremely grim and nihilistic (though Elfen Lied, has it's lighter moments) so if your overly affected by what you read, or just prefer happy stories you might want to pass on them.

I was also going to suggest the slightly more obscure (well the film adaption is well known, at least in certain circles, but not so many people have read the original manga) Koroshiya Ichi/Ichi the Kill which follows two essentially immoral protagonists in a cat and mouse game that is also a twisted love story (it's hard to explain, it involves Sadomasochism). However you mentioned not wanting something with an evil protagonist and you might find these characters to be (whilst Berserk and Elfen Lied's characters are more justifiably cruel from their youths). Also once again a violence/sexual violence warning and a warning that the whole thing is as much an exploration of deviant sexuality as it is an actual story.

Anyway, perhaps my suggestions are more dark or gruesome than you were after but if I've helped then I'm glad

Setsuna from Angel Sanctuary is goal-oriented and not traditionally moral though not really seeking sympathy from the reader
Ares is the same, but in a straight-uply darker tone
Vinland Saga and Übel Blatt both involve revenge (for some time).

Gantz fits. There's many psychos in it. Plus, I really didn't like main protagonist at the beginning. He was such a selfish bastard.

Aiki - Kind of. Main guy primary focus is to get laid.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro - It's namesake Neuro is a demon bent of getting food out of people's psychological state when they (devise to) murder others, while making anyone around him as miserable as possible.

I second Angel Sanctuary since I wouldn't consider Setsuna moral. Also I second Kaze no stigma (light novel) or the anime, the anime is pretty true to the book but Kazuma is a lot darker in the novel. Also Code Geass definitely if you're looking at anime. Don't bother with the manga, it's awful in comparison to the anime. I shall also add

Nabari no Ou ~ Well Miharu is more indifferent than immoral but that is still a lack of morals so it suits.
Aflame Inferno
Vampire Juujikai
Vampire Knight
Number
Akuma no Ororon
Chronicles of the Cursed Sword
X ~ Not sure about this but I guess you could class Kamui as immoral.
X-Kai ~ Again not sure since he is an assassin but is also caring so maybe limted moral as opposed to none at all.

They all contain a main character I consider immoral which I interpreted as having no qualms about manipulating others and taking life. Some have more psycological issues than other's but since you consider Light evil I didn't want the character's to be too dark. Hope this helps.
