I was hoping someone might be able to recommend more stories like this. Perhaps not the "raised in the wild and as such is essentially an animal at times" aspect, but where one character (male or female) is an outcast or gangster or just generally not socially embraced. Any recommendations will be accepted with embarrassing amounts of gratitude. ^_^

I vehemently suggest Angel Densetsu. It's far better than the description makes it sound, and I liked both of these series, so... Also, I know it's not shoujo and it's really lacking in bishies, but that's not what you asked for, so that's not what you get, because Angel Densetsu is very similar.

Edit: also, you may want to try this author's other series.

Also, Lamchopsil, this topic needs to be moved to a looking for section, I think.

I second Cat Street! It's full of "generally not socially embraced" characters.
If you're looking for comedic or just plain weird characters, try Nodame Cantabile or Honey and Clover (Try the anime if you're fussy about artwork)

There's also:
Jun'ai Tokkou Taichou
Hoshi wa Utau
Dengeki Daisy (by the same mangaka as Beast Master -seems to be just as good.)

I guess you could also try Sugar Family. It doesn't specifically match what you're looking for, but it gives off the same feeling as Beast Master, and it's an adorable series. Try it!

Reaching You - it's got a similar romantic comedy element, along with one of the characters helping the other to be able to befriend people. Blarg. Whatever, they're similar. Just read it.

...And Perfect Girl Evolution kinda fits, too... oh, wait. That's already on your reading list. Never mind.
