Hi, I am kind of looking for a romance (doesn't have to be the main theme) where hero and heroine would live like cat and dog with each other, always bickering, not to the point of being overly dramatic just as a part of a relationship itself.

In other words, something like Lovely Complex. Well Kare Kano is similar too.

It is probably similar to "strong heroine" threads, as again it is hard to imagine a weak heroine bickering with the hero.

Shoujo. josei, shounen or seinen - doesn't really matter as long as it is based on such relationship.

Thanks

The suggestions I received so far (just as my own list) if any of you search for similar relationship as I:

Beauty Pop
Daa! Daa! Daa!
Destination Heaven Chronicles
Full House
Gakuen Alice
Good Morning Call
Hana Yori Dango
Hot Blooded Woman
Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne
Kare Kano
Kaze no Stigma - Kouen no Miko
Kekkaishi
Kodomo no Omocha
Love Hina
Love Monster
Lovely Complex
Nosatsu Junkie
Ookami to Koushinryou
Perfect Girl Evolution
Power!!
Ranma 1/2
School Rumble
Shakugan No Shana
Shibariya Komachi
Skip Beat
Special A
Tenshi ja Nai!!
Toradora!
Tokyo Crazy Paradise
Zero No Tsukaima

lialah. also suggested Superior But I do not think it suits the bickering couple description. kiddo also suggested Chrno Crusade but I do find it hard to put it on a bickering couples category as well.

perfect girl evolution- the two main characters argue a lot, followed by one trying to beat up the other.
tokyo crazy paradise- same again, and just as funny.
skip beat- a lot of funny argument between the main hero/ heroine in the beginning. less as time goes on.
superior- some fighting that I found funny between the main characters(usually consisting of the hero yelling at the heroine when she tries to eat people, 🤣 )

although you might have already read these ones, they seem to be popular. I found the bickering between the main characters to be absolutely hilarious. If you havent read any you should give one a try. I'll add some more when I think of some.

Ah thanks, well Hot Blooded Woman is interesting.

I tried Perfect Girl Evolution before, but didn't like the harem aspect of the manga (prefer non harem or reversed harem ones, nor do I like long love triangles either).

Tokyo Crazy Paradise is interesting, though I am not so much into gender bender ones...

Skip Beat..I heard about it but never tried I guess I'll give it a shot.

Superior..I read it but I would hardly classify it as a "bickering" couple at all. Specially "hero" lacks any substance while main heroine falls for the hero waaaay to quickly. It has a nice art though.

Thanks for your advices, anything more?

Hana Yori Dango sounds just like what you're looking for. it's romance, comedy, drama, and the main leads are always fighting. Volume one even has her literally "declaring war". 😀 Best thing is it's long. 36 volumes long! And it keeps the pace quite well. Best of luck! 😛

you really should give PGE another try. it might seem like it, but its not a harem manga, each one of the boys gets a different girl. problem is its too much of the bickering too litlle on the romance 😔 as ranmaru wouldnt hesitate to point out.

when i read the title the first thing that came to mind was 70% of all shoujo's >_>
the whole guy is popular -> guy meets girl -> girl fights him -> guy is intigued -> guy goes after girl -> teasing and bickering insues -> girl loves guy -> they become couple. is soooo overused its not funny 🤢

Thanks for the answers.

I tried Ranma 1/2 and yes it indeed is what i would call bickering couple.

Love Hina, on the other hand, is a little bit different but also similar to it (when Keitaro starts to stand up for himself). The only thing that I didn't like was harem aspect of it.

Hana Yori Dango...Actually i never tried it, because I saw a "harem" tag on the description of it, plus the front cover seemed to imply the harem as well, which i do not like so much.. So it is not harem?

Love Monster - I remember I read it some time ago, but I thought it was leading towards harem stuff so decided to put it on halt...I should continue then?

Never tried Beauty Pop nor Shibariya Komachi , thanks for the info, Saexel.

I heard of Charming Junkie, but never found the time to try it so I guess I will now.

And yes I know Gakuen Alice and am reading it. They are not bickering as much as some others do but are pretty similar anyway.

Special A is good yet they are not bickering that much (all of arguments come from the heroines misunderstandings as the hero already is ion love with her).

Hmm, so firegoat, I should give PGE another chance then? But I wonder why it was tagged as harem then, also the first few chapters seemed like leading that way, so...

And i would disagree with you that 70% of all shoujo's are heading that way. Not true. Not so many shoujo's are, as mostly it is a guy picking up on a girl, rather than a constant bickering from both sides, where either of them can be the one that activates (usually in shoujo's it is the guy while the girl only "defends" herself).

What I imagine with bickering is that both hero and heroine have strong personalities, and no matter how you look, a loot of leading heroines have weak personalities in this aspect, their most of argue come just as defensive reaction.

Oh I myself remembered other two titles that are based on this "bickering" aspect - Kaze no Stigma - Kouen no Miko and Zero No Tsukaima. Also shoujo Kodomo no Omocha is similar to it.

While, Shakugan No Shana can be that way due to tsundere Heroine the male hero isn't very active so it is hard to call it a real bickering, but more like "picking on". Still it is not too far, specially when Yuuji gaims some attitude to stand up against her.

Some may say that we can see such couple in School Rumble as well, if you know what I mean, but at this point it is too hard to tell if they end up as a couple or not.

In Neon Genesis Evangelion anime we can see similar relationship between Shinji and Asuka (specially in the beginning) but as series go further into dark and angst, Shinji gets weaker while Asuka - more psychotic. In NGE manga, however, there is no real relationship between them other than roommates/pals (it centers only on Rei/Shinji relationship) so it is not worth to mention.

Toradora! can also counted as having such couple.

I kind of noticed that such bickering relationship a heroine is a little bit "tsundereish" in many cases.

Anyways, thanks for your answers got some interesting advices. Is there anything more?

this request is really general... D:

but i guess full house would be a perfect one, although i only saw the drama, but it's the same thing and i heard good reviews about the manga...

heh, Daa! Daa! Daa! is more of a younger audience one i guess but they bicker a lot...

and even though you might not like gender bender that much, i'd say destination heaven chronicles and power!! have a lot of bickering and they're pretty enjoyable.

and maybe good morning call...? and kekkaishi. definitely that one.

i haven't really read any of these in a long time and i still haven't found about half of my reading and completed series yet, so i can't remember all of the series relating to this but i hope this helps. :]

ah, and tenshi ja nai!! would be a nice one. and chrno crusade i think.

kiddo, well most of your suggestions are probably true as I haven't read most of those (though I will probably not read the gender bender ones).

But as far as I remember the couple in Good Morning Call wasnt all that bickering with each other, just the heroine was sort of angry on the hero for the first few chapters but that was it. Again I read it quite some time ago so I might be wrong.

Chrno Crusade, do not suit to bickering hero and heroine category at all though, as the are not really bickering in there, it is just heroine complaining about the hero, who isn't very responsive on his part.

And yes, i have completely forgotten about Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne though Chiaki is mostly teasing rather than fighting with her, but I guess it suits in.

Ookami to Koushinryou also could suit such couples, though Horo do not really fight with Lawrence they do tease each other constantly.
