I somehow feel really attracted to historical manga/anime.
I don't really like 'tragic' but if it is a happy ending (the two main characters are alive and end up with each other) then I'm fine with it. It must have romance in it but I'd like if the two characters don't fall in love at first sight. (Probably they are enemies at first??) I want a long and finished manga/anime. (currently don't have anything to do this holiday T_T)
I've read Basara which is probably the reason I want to read more.
Any suggestions?? Thanks! biggrin

You may also like Saiunkoku Monogatari. It's a manga and an anime. Neither one is completely finished but there is enough to keep you busy for your break. wink

I second this but would like to add that the anime has ended with 2 seasons each containing 39 episodes.

I know you said finished but check out Princess (31 volumes) it's really good, there is some tragedy. Multiple pairings there is definitely some enemies becoming lovers in there.

Kanata Kara - I highly recommend
A Kiss to the Prince
Legend of Nereid
Crazy Girl Shin Bia
Mademoiselle Butterfly
Ninohime no Monogatari
Otogibanashi wo Anata ni
Koitsukiyo no Himegoto
Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori
Home
Tsuki no Shippo

um there are tons of good ongoing historical series too, might want to check on them.

I've tried reading Princess but I didn't really like it. But I'll probably retry it.
I'm currently reading Kanata Kara and Crazy Girl Shin Bia.
I've tried Legend of Neried, the start looked so boring so I just didn't continue so maybe I'll read that again.
I don't really like the story of Ninohime no Monogatari, Koitsukiyo no Himegoto and Home.
I've tried reading Tsuki no Shippo but I didn't like it, I tried to read it again but it was not that interesting for me.

Western Historical

Apothecarius Argentum - Girl ends up developing feelings for her poison taster. Romance is slow and not at first sight. I think it is finished, but i don't know about the ending.

Evyione - A twist on the little mermaid. The mermaid is actually a merman who falls in love with an influential noble.

Hakushaku to Yousei

Japanese Historical

[m]Fushugi yuugi[/m] - I think this one is classic. I didn't like it though.

Hachimitsu no Hana - This one was pretty good.

Ninohime no Monogatari - I liked this one.

I've watched a few episodes of Fushigi Yuugi but I got bored of it and don't really like the story of Ninohime no Monogatari. But the others seem interesting. Thanks!

The first time I read Princess I had to stop because it was extremely boring. I think you have to get about 3 or 4 volumes in before it starts getting good. The Legend of Neired gets better as you go along as well imo (though end is mediocre imo)

I actually didn't like Koitsukiyo no Himegoto either but i figured i'd suggest it anyway. laugh
