I have read all the shojo beat mangas so far, and I really enjoyed it. 🙂 Can anyone tell me what type of books that are similar to shojo beat that i can read? Not shojo beat books in particular, but books that are similar. thanks 🙂

Hmmm... I think the only one that's easiest to find in English would be Shonen Jump. There are others, but I think they've discontinued are really obscure. If you're really desperate, you can try Japanese ones, there are much MUCH more.

Books? Like libros, and not manga?

Hrmm...
The Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, actually pretty much anything by her, works. The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer is kind of similar to Vampire Knight, and considered pretty much the ultimate by most teenage girls these days. I personally like the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray. Phillipa Gregory also writes some pretty good stuff, though it's a lot heavier than everything above.

For more teen-y stuff, there's Louise Rennison's Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging series, very funny. Meg Cabot's stuff works too... the Confessions of a Teenage Nanny series has a very SB-type feel to it, and Scott Westerfield's Uglies trilogy is one of the best modern distopian books I've read, on top of being quite entertaining. I have to plug How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff, because I think it's brilliant. I also just read a book called If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince? which I thought was pretty funny.

Ooh, ooh, and read Battle Royale. Not because it's SB-y, just because it's awesome.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head, though I should check the books in my room... but it's upstairs and I'm lazy. Anyway, hope this helps. You sure you don't want manga recommendations? Because I don't have to move for those. Ah, the curse of laziness is upon me~

I thought she meant manga titles similar to those running in Shojo Beat (but I could be wrong) It's kinda difficult to suggest based on that, though. You might as well just try anything labeled shoujo here. If there are specific series you liked more than others, that could be helpful to guide suggestions.... You could also look at authors of the Shojo Beat series, some of whom have other work published in English (Ashihara Hinako, Watase Yuu, Akira Shouko, Yazawa Ai... possibly more I can't recall).

Well, in that case...

Lemme see... as I've read every Shojo Beat manga other than Godchild, Baby & Me, and Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden, I'm totally up for this challenge~

Starting with completed series:
Akuma de Sourou - same author as Crimson Hero
Aoi Spice - reminds me of Backstage Prince somewhat
Ayashi no Ceres - oh the drama - of course - as it's by Yuu Watase, mangaka of Absolute Boyfriend
Imadoki! - see above, but not as much drama
Complex (shoujo) - very cute little series, also veeery Shojo Beat
Emma - classic romance, and overall good read
Fairy Cube - just started being published by Shojo Beat, actually, so you may have read some of it, but it's awesome, same author as Godchild
Hana-Kimi - published by Viz Media, parent company of SB
Tenshi ja Nai!- just really good, funny, etc.
Marmalade Boy - happy-go-lucky romance
Kodomo no Omocha - same as above, but with more drama
Mekakushi no Kuni - kind of like Haruka Beyond the Stream of Time but set in the present day
Metamo Kiss - it's so darn adorable!!
Othello - ahhh, drama... somewhat like NANA except not as over-the-top, it has the music element
Peach Girl - really, if you like drama and romance together, you have to read it
Penguin Brothers - cutesy, almost like Marmalade Boy...
Ichigo Channel - so good!
Tokyo Crazy Paradise - by the mangaka of Skip Beat! and amazing
Hot Gimmick - by the mangaka of Tokyo Boys & Girls
Hana Yori Dango - it's, like, the ultimate in crazy drama/romance/comedy, and a total shoujo classic
Otokomae! Beads Club - very funny
WANTED - same mangaka as Vampire Knight, recently licensed by SB

Moving on to ongoing series:
100% Perfect Girl - the ultimate in drama/romance, it's soooo addictive~
Goong - see above, but with comedy. They're both manhwa, btw, and are read left-to-right
Penguin Revolution - cutesy romance with some comedy
My Girl - manhwa, and very Shojo Beat-ish
Ai Hime ~ Ai to Himegoto - ah, forbidden love...
Akuma to Love Song - yes, finally a strong female heroine!!
Beast Master - the ultimate in humour, same mangaka as Beast Master
Boku ni Natta Watashi - drama, comedy, romance, gender bender...
Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu - it's a tragedy, but I love it so far
Cat Street - by the mangaka of Hana Yori Dango, very good
Faster than a Kiss - aww, it's so cute... and funny... and awesome~
Five - icky drawings but very good
Honey Hunt - by the mangaka of Hot Gimmick and Tokyo Boys and Girls, looks good thus far
Kaichou wa Maid-sama!- cute, funny, with some drama mixed in...
Kimi ga Suki - all sorts of emotional drama there, plus it's really cute
Kiss Zekkou Kiss - story told twice, from both points of view - so funny and adorable!
Oresama Ouji - it's not very long, but I like it thus far
Parfait Tic - oh, the perils of having two hot guys around!
Reaching You - so funny, so cute
Ringo Nikki - same mangaka as Lovely Complex, very good
Ryou - same mangaka as Tail of the Moon, sort of similar to Kaze Hikaru
Shinobi Life - Kagetora's so hot~!
Toraware no Minoue - same mangaka as Vampire Knight, recently licensed by SB
Venus Capriccio - very cute, very SB, makes me think of La Corda d'Oro

...Yeah, that's enough for a while. Or for tonight at least. Maybe later I'll filter through the one-shots, anthologies, and single volume stuff I have, but until then I need a break. If you were looking for manga, I hope this helps!
