So, I'm waiting for several books to arrive in the mail, and while I'm waiting, I want to read something really good. I have several things I'm in the mood for at the moment, so yeah. biggrin

First, I'm looking for something that deals with the main character using (or learning to use) their Spiritual Energy/Life force. Preferably to fight other people. It would be neat if there was a whole underground society dedicated to it (like in The Breaker) but if it's just the main character and maybe a few other people that's fine too.

Secondly, I'm looking for something with a dark, heavy feeling over it. This doesn't mean it has to have lots of gore or violence (although that's always good), but it just has to have a heavy/oppressing atmosphere. Examples would be Berserk and Maou

Thirdly, I want something where someone is going to a school (or training camp) to practice/learn a skill (or several skills) to do something they want to do. Twin Spica is the only example I can think of at the moment, and it has a girl go to train to be an astronaut.

I'm also (always) looking for some with plenty of gore, violence, and action. eyes It can be dark and awesome (like Berserk or Blaster Knuckle ) or it can be a dark comedy (Satanister), or it can even just be something that has lots of gore but makes you wonder what in heavens name is going on (La Mosca). Violence/gore being the only requirement here.

Other then that, a chasing after their dreams (or just doing something they have a passion about) story is also something I always want to read. Dance! Subaru, Skip Beat!, Major, Glass Mask, Capeta, and Initial D are all examples of this.

Please look at my lists before you suggest something to me. If you notice something on my wish list that you think might fit, feel free to suggest it. Generally my wish list is full of things that weren't scanlated at the time I was recommended them, so if the thing you want to recommend is now scanlated, remind me about it. biggrin

Please and thank you! smile wink grin Dang... this turned out to be really long...

Moon Boy fits this easily. (Yeah yeah, I love recommending this underrated manhwa.) You just need to promise me to buy/read it legally, if you're interested. Easily my favorite shoujo manhwa because it's different from other manhwa.

Hatsukanezumi no Jikan (The Hour of the Mice) -- Maybe?? - It's not gory, violent, or THAT dark, but a pscyhogolical/semi-oppressive feeling to it. Hard to describe it exactly. Haven't read it in awhile.

Kitchen Princess - Same mangaka that is currently working on ARISA (as I can see on your list).

Anuki Redman has been trained as a mercenary pilot. The 'school life' arc lasts only for a third of the series though. (Probably that manhwa would also go as a story about passion for flight.)

Finally! Someone is asking for something other than a romance manga! laugh

For the second request;
Pluto and Monster - Saw these on your wish list. You really have to read them!
Chevalier is pretty good, too.
Bokurano and Narutaru

For the fourth;
La Croisade des innocents sounds that way, from the description.

For the last one;
Ookiku Furikabutte fits, but a lot of people hate the protagonist, calling him 'weak'. Of course, he's chronically shy, but once you get past that, it's still a nice manga.

Junjou Karen na Oretachi da! - Pity this is only 3 volumes long.

Real - One of the best sports manga out there. Deals with so many issues other than the sports aspect.

Bambino! - A passion for cooking counts too, right?

You've already read all of the 'gory' manga I was going to recommend smile

Wizards Nation - Takes a different approach to it where it becomes life or death. >__>

I put the wrong manga in!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Sorry sorry.. Was looking too quickly through what I read. (Although, Wizards Nation is an interesting story of its own.)

I meant to say Aphorism!! >___< Sorryyyy...

Kandachime
Blue Excorist
the one-shot of Kagijin (the serialisation is bad)
Kurohime
Livingstone
Maken X
Mononoke (NOT Princess Mononoke, just mononoke; the anime's good)

Akumetsu
SkyHigh
Emerging
ManHole

Hmm, I don't think I've suggested anything that was on your lists...

For the heavy atmosphere, [m]Death Note{/m] and Liar Game both feature oppressive surroundings and tenuous situations.

For you first request you might want to check out Hunter x Hunter (the first half of it)
For the fourth - Claymore, although you must have read it already.
For the fifth - Nononono
