I'd recommend Anatolia Story, Alichino(not comedy, but has some pretty capable females), Mana, Bara no Tameni, Rokutousei Supika, Tokage Ouji, Bloodhound and a lot more. Some more explanations would've been good, I can't guarantee you'll like even half of the mangas here.

I would recommend:
Nodame Cantabile- she is just who she is and will not change for anyone but herself.
Emma- defies society to pursue the one she loves and overcomes many obstacles.
Crossroad- coming of age story of a teenage girl and her ever changing family dynamics.
Nomade is long and ongoing, while last two are relatively short and complete. 😉

I woudln't call Nodame strong, more of an idiot, but yea the manga is still good.
