alright i know i wanna read a manga...but i dont know what kind of manga i wanna read, and it probably doesn't matter....but there are some things it must and must not have.....
must have:
Atleast 5 volumes scanalated no short mangas or oneshots....
Good-to-Great art and character design.....
good characters and character devolopment.... examples... Skip Beat! thats not good in my book (art wise)
cant have.......
Shounen-ai
Yaoi
Hentai
no super shoujoey-shoujo's or mahou shoujo's......
no shoujo's with weak minded main characters....
no shounens with crybaby or lame main characters.....
no stupid harems with those stupid main characters....
no overly echii echii's....i dont mind echii, i can even appreciate it sometimes, but stuff that just has echii and panty shots just for the hell of it...none of that
no old looking manga.....
but yeah...thats about it, anyone who can help i preciate it.......as for as genres go, i'm not picky when it comes to that.... shoujo, shounen, josei, seinein, romance, action, doesn't really matter......
also if you're gonna sugest Monster or Berserk, i wanna watch the anime first so hold off on that please....but yeah, thanks in advance

you sure about that? i understand monster, but berserk anime barely scratches the surface of the story.

I'm hesitant to call anything a "masterpiece", but the closest of the one's I've read is probably Mahoraba. To give you an idea on just how good this is, it's the only series I've ever read that truly deserves a 10 rating - it's just fantastic from start to finish.
I'm sure you'll get a lot of other suggestions, but I can truly recommend Mahoraba without any reservations.

Seriously man, dont watch the Berserk anime before you read it, and most of al, dont just jump from where it ended in the manga. for one, the animes art just isnt on the same level, two; its nowhere are graphic as the manga, its mostly just blood in the anime, where as in the manga its everything (brains, guts, and so on), so its just all the more badass. 3: they cut out parts in the anime from the manga (namely grapich ones and just mature ones) and also cut out a whole part in the storie that was really good (this is from what i heard, so thats a volumes worth of a storie if not more). I think when 13 volumes are cramed into 25 eps, thats a bad sign (especil when the volumes are of a good size, and are very ditailed). Just seriouly strat with the manga, seeing as you;re just going to be going to it anyways, you might aswell just start with it (and do note that the manga doesnt really start to get really got till volumes 4 and 5, so the art and so on in the first 3 volumes doesnt represent what it is later one, as where it is now and has been for a while, its one of the most detailed well drawn comics out there).
Also i think Moster would be best read, as it does take place in germany, and hearing the characters speak in japanese would kinda kill abit of the buzz, where as in the manga, you;re reading it in english, but it doesnt give the meaning that hye are actually speaking it. That and i jus think sepense can be abit better when read, to to each they're own (havent watchthe the anime yet, so i cant really nock it)

Well, that's what i wanted to do with Berserk as well. But you'll definitely appreciate the manga more if you reread the whole manga. The anime was good, but the animated parts are still the best arcs in the manga for me. You'll miss out on a very good part of the manga if you just continue where the anime leaves off.
So my suggestion is to watch the anime first, then reread the whole manga.
I've done this method for
Claymore, Berserk, Tenjou Tenge and Air Gear.
I haven't picked up monster yet, so i can't say anything about that.
My top suggestions for you would be,
Historie and Vinland Saga - I'm not quite sure if it's past 5 volumes, but the current amount of readable material is already amazing.
Guyver - This is a pretty long running Sci-fi series, This has an anime adaptation as well, with this one, you could start with the anime then read where the anime left off(the adaptation was amazing.
Battle Angel Alita / Last order - read the first series then continue with the sequel. This is on a different level when it comes to scifi mangas, it gives me a star wars feel.

Thats good to hear. But just so you know, the art for the first little while will be abit ugly (it did start up 18 years ago afterall), and will get more around to being what you would like around volume 5 and will keep gettering better and better the farther you go. So just try and bare with it if you would.
Also, as much as i think the Guyver is awesome, I just cant see you going for it, seeing as how old it is and such, so the art will put you off (im pretty damn sure of this).
I segest trying out maybe these series here:
- Akira
- Beck (well i dont know if i would say its a "master Piece", but it is pretty damn good)
- Emma
- Fullmetal Alchemist
- King of Thorn
- Nodame Cantabile
- MPD Psycho (maybe...)
- One Piece
- Rurouni Kenshin (I wouldnt cal it a master piece, but others think it is)
- Saikano
- Blame!
- Yotsuba&!
- 20th Century Boys
- Pluto
- Battle Royale
- Death Note
- Genshiken (maybe...)
- Planetes (Volume 4 is about the size of two volumes, so you can kinda consiter it 5 volumes long)
- Paradise Kiss
- Eden (maybe...)
- Rookies
- Shamo (maybe...)
*sigh* I have to hold out on listing some master peices and just great series becouse they;re old and such . But i guess that should do you for a while :/ .

i saw the anime or read/reading all those except those 8.......so i'll look into those, infact i think i'll read battle royale i've heard alot of good things about that one, MPD pscycho too...so i'll try that one too, but i got a question about Shamo....i was reading the 1st chapter about a month back, then there was this boy on boy butfuck scene and had to drop.......but liked the idea of the manga, so was that a 1time thing, or is it Yaoi?
also good look on those titles, they all seem pretty dope.....you got good taste

lol you need not worrie, Shamo isnt Yaoi, its just realistic, pretty much. He was in pression, and that kinda shit can happen. I've read 16 volumes of it back in the day, and i dont remmber anything homoerotic (well, i wouldnt call that "erotic", as it didnt aim to turn the reading "on"), so happy readings and such.
Also, you should try looking into buying the manga Firefighter!: Daigo of Fire Company M, because it is REALLY fucking good. The art might not be what you would consiter "great", but i think its fine (it gest abit better as it goes along, enough so that i dont think it should be a problem), and just the stuff and the main charcter development in it is damn good. It's become one of my top favorite series now.

I second Firefighter Daigo. The story and art is awesome. I think that the manga won the shogakugan manga award as best shounen manga. Also you should consider buying Ushio to Tora. It is really good and it also won best shounen manga at shogakugan in 1992.
