Hey. Can anyone recommend a nice good yaoi story? I want to try the genre, but I can never get myself to read it. Though it's not that I can't stomach it, just I never find it interesting enough to read. So nice yaoi manga as a good introduction to the genre? cool? xD Thank. 😎

Golden Days. Lots of het side couples and a one-sided BL main 'couple'. You're sure to enjoy it.

Imo you shouldn't bother reading yaoi; it's just disgusting (well, not surprisingly -- it is porn, after all) Shounen-ai is nice, though.
And not to contradict anyone or anything, but Thomas no Shinzou is sorta melodramatic.
It's good if you're an angst lover -- but if you're not, well...

Edit - If serious = interesting in your book, you might want to try Zankoku na Kami ga Shihaisuru. At least it tries to be realistic -- which is more than can be said of most BL manga!

And if you like fantasy, Koori no Mamono no Monogatari is a good choice. For all intents and purposes, it's a shoujo romance with the girl replaced by a guy; but it manages to be quite nice nonetheless.

Kamakiri
was my introduction to yaoi, i am know a COMPLETE yaoi LOVER!!

before that manga i didn't think much of homosexual relationships and almost hated anyone that could be considered 'gay' because of my dumb brother that i grew up with!

But the fact your willing to try yaoi, means you must have an open mind

anyways i highly recommend Kamakiri, since it still has a tinny but of shoujo in it.

I don't think it's very advisable to judge real-life homosexuals by what you see in yaoi.
BL is unrealistic even for fiction. No real men / boys (gay or otherwise) would ever act like that! 🙄

Anyway, I recommend Concrete Garden. Don't be mislead by the cover -- it's not some dirty shotacon or anything. It's a really interesting sci-fi / fantasy manga.

Well here's some of my favorite (yaoi/shounen ai)mangakas and some of their works. Not sure what type of mangas/stories you were looking for so wasn't sure what to recommend.if you're looking for to read the more "typical" yaoi stories(with the girly ukes and angsty semes) then this list might not be the best for you but if you like something with a bit better plot then give these a try. Different kind of artists and different kind of stories so hope u find something good from here. ^^

Miyamoto Kano - Rules, Hydra(both are part of Rules Universe),Are you enemy?(part of Walker series)
Est Em - Seduce Me After the Show, Age Called Blue
Basso - Kuma to Interi, Amato Amaro,
Jaryuu Dokuro - Endless World
Honma Akira - Ai ga Kami wo Korosu Toki, The Judged
Inariya Fusanosuke - Giglio, Maiden Rose
Nakamura Asumiko - J no Subete, Double Mints
Yamashita Tomoko - Dining Bar Akira, Illumination
Yoneda Kou - Doushitemo Furetakunai, Ore ni Koi Shite Dousunda
Matsuo Marta - Lies Are a Gentleman's Manners
Nitta Youka - Haru wo Daite ita
Tamaki Yura - Blood

other mangas:
The Man of Tango,The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, Last Client, Acid Town, Lucky-kun, 1999 Shanghai, Kanga na Spoon, Nanahikari,Antique Bakery,Ai no Kusabi

Sorry the list got kinda long 🤣 😀 You could start with Miyamoto Kano's mangas. Her mangas are more closer to shounen ai that yaoi..at least that what I think so it's pretty safe to start with those and most also have a good plot.

It's really stupid how some people are saying yaoi/porn is disgusting. Mind your own business, no one wants to hear your opinion on the subject, the poster is looking for yaoi as well as shounen-ai so deal with the topic on hand.

Anyways, I would recommend Mirai no Kioku, which is a very well done yaoi manga, and I second Heart of Thomas. Banana Fish is also really amazing, but it's not just shounen ai, most of the plot is action/thriller so I don't know if you're into that.

The first I read was Komatta Toki ni wa Hoshi ni Kike. It had (and has) me completely hooked.
The work Dear Green is also beautiful.

I'd like to second Golden Days.
I'd also like to second any work from Miyamoto Kano. I'd especially reccomend Not/Love (part of the Walker series).
..and another one I have to second: Illumination.

But I'd say the absolute must read is Youneda Kou's Doushitemou Furetakunai

If it's your first time I'd recommend something not smutty then ease into it once you feel comfortable. Otherwise you'd probably hate it. D:!

Shounen- Ai:
La Esperança (it's really sweet ^-^)
Seven Days (the love is so realistic~ one of my 10's)

Yaoi:
Totally Captivated (MUST READ LIKESRSLY)
Yume Musubi, Koi Musubi (<- the first yaoi I ever read. At first it disturbed me, but then I got curious ~ it's totally adorable. 😛 )
Warui Koto Shitai (lighthearted...completely overflowing with cuteness...)

P.S. When you ever do learn to love these genres (WHICH YOU WILL) then read Corsair ~ I just read it and it's sort of angsty but really sweet.

Might I suggest Shinkuu Yuusetsu? It's also called Hollow Fusion. It's a very sweet series, and not over the top. It's shounen ai, so I think you'll like it.

Pokerface (completed)

yaoi
Junjou Romantica (ongoing)
Sekaiichi Hatsukoi (ongoing)
Ano Hi no Kimi wo Dakishimeta nara (completed)
Cut (completed)
Doushitemo Furetakunai (completed)
Escape (completed)
Hand Which (completed)
Kirai ja Nai Kedo (completed)
Koi ja nai kedo (completed)

edit: man I feel like a straight up perv after looking at how little some people recommended. I'm such a perv.. 🤣

First, I want to second anyone who said Koori no Mamono no Monogatari. I cried bucket loads.

For yaoi, I recommend:
Wild Fangs (and its sequels),
Oujisama Game (and it's sequels),
Only the Ring Finger Knows (novel),
Ze,
Love Mode (the art is not so gorgeous at the beginning, but it'll get better),
Private Prince (ASATO Eri),
Sentimental Garden Lover (oneshots),
Otona Keikenchi,
Katekyo!,
Kawaii Akuma (I don't recommend the sequel though ^^),
Tenki Yohou no Koibito,
Abarenbou Kareshi,
Elysion no Tobira,
Tenohira no Seiza,
Boku wa Kimi no Tori ni Naritai (really good),
and Sorenari ni Shinken Nandesu,

For shounen-ai, I recommend:
Doukyuusei, Hybrid Child, Kigurumi Planet (quite...unique ^^), and Hanamai Koeda de Aimashou.

I read very few shounen-ai. 😐
