Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu With much rage, I HATE IT

Overrated. Let's see:

Naruto - We all obviously know why, this isn't a shocker. Freakin' Believe It!
Bleach - Ichigo makes me happy. I still read Bleach. But I see it EVERYWHERE. I suppose that just has to do with it being popular, but EVERYWHERE. Seriously? It's not THAT good.
Death Note - I love it, but it's not the epitome of shounen manga, either.
Midnight Secretary and Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu - both characters pretend to be strong (well, Kyou's main did for a chapter, anyway, and I'm not ashamed to say I fell for it) but they fail in the end. I'm not saying I don't like them (well, I don't like Kyou, but...), I just think they're both too hyped up.
Air Gear and Kuroshitsuji - Yeah, I went there. Great art, oh, so great art. Plot, however? What is this plot? They're the two extremes: Oh! Great's plot is like taking acid while BB's just sits there. And sits there. Art doesn't make everything (I'm talking to you especially, Oh! Great) and but I still read BB and I gave up on Air Gear with Obama. I'm sure he was there for a reason but I was tired of figuring out all the reasons for everything in that manga.
Vampire Knight - It was good, once upon a time. Now even some of the fanbase is like 'WTF?' but there are still a lot of people who give it high ratings, dedicate their lives to it, and want others to do the same. Way too overrated.
Great Teacher Onizuka - It's funny. Hilarious. Amazingly so. But seriously? In the 'I'm Looking for...' section, it's hard to not find a topic that doesn't suggest GTO. 'Deep psycological' - GTO will do it. 'Dramatic romance' - GTO's got your back. 'Dark tragedy' - I promise you, GTO is what you're looking for. That probably just means that people are stupid sometimes, but I think it's much attributed to GTO's overrated-ness.

Shounen - Air Gear , Bleach , GTO , One Piece , Kami no Mizo Shiru Sekai , Beelzebub , The Breaker , Naruto , Gintama , Fairy Tail , Kuroshitsuji

Shoujo (Oh boy! Where do I even start with this one?) - Skip Beat! , Vampire Knight , Kimi ni Todoke , Dengeki Daisy , Nana , Tokyo Crazy Paradise , Hana Kimi , Bride of the Water God , Ouran Koukou Host Club , Savage Garden , Love So Life , Lovely Complex , Mars , 1/2 Ouji...I probably forgot some, but I'll stop at that so I won't be burnt at the stake by rabid fan-girls 🤣

Josei - Midnight Secretary , Paradise Kiss , Gokusen , Kimi wa Pet , Saiyuki , Bara no Tame ni , Cheese in the Trap , Hatenkou Yuugi

Seinen - Berserk , Onani Master Kurosawa , Gantz , Otoyome Gatari , Mugen no Juunin , Emma , Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan , Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (Novel) (Why is this even seinen? It's so juvenile!) , Shin Angyo Onshi , Kiseijuu , Hoshi no Samidare.

Pretty much every high-rated yaoi manga except The Cornered Mouse and The Carp on the Chopping Block. They don't deserve their 8-point-something ratings either, but are absolute gold compared to BS like Viewfinder and that S&M yakuza story I can't be bothered to remember the name of.

Yuri... I dunno. Most yuri aren't rated that high, and Girl Friends is actually not bad at all.

..which might be true but it's also becoming increasingly better, since the timeskip and especially in the last 100 chapters.. then again hype doesn't generally affect me when it comes to whether I find the plot intriguing or not

if any of the current "big" series is overrated it's bleach, but I guess that is the general consensus of it.. it had it's 15 minutes of fame but then it become a mel gibson, nothing but an ugly mess desperately trying to suck the last bit of spotlight while it still has a fanbase.. having read it twice I can't see anything that's going to change about that either.

I'm gonna try to refrain from ranting but I must say I'm sad someone mentioned shin angyo onshi, personally I think it's absolutely brilliant

the big shoujo's haven't quite gotten the same hype, it's harder to call them overrated as such however I'd say vampire knight is about as overrated as bleach, it's certainly not lived up to the potentional in the story anyway

and oh, I dont get how air gear can be the 23rd most read series on mangafox, let alone top 100.. it's ghastly bad..

one piece? overrated? personally I found it average and stopped reading it a couple of times but I ended up finishing and have been following it for 7 years, during that time I would have said it's overrated since it's so immensely popular.. but the last (2) years I've been blown away, the stage it's at atm is just epic and I afraid the haters are gonna be stuck with it for another 10-15 years

Im sorry but love so life isnt overrated because its not extremely popular....it may not be the best but its not over rated...i agree with some but most of these i dont even know...and i know a lot of manga

there's a ridiculous amount of cosplay (omg i was in a mob the size of the naruto one's a few years back at the last convention), there's "Hetalia day"- huge fan meet up, and there's even a convention dedicated to this one anime!?! way too overrated.

I rarely see people talking about Air Gear, Zippy Ziggy or 1/2 Prince sure they get popular on the manga reading sites at times but I havent noticed a giant cult following. And some of the titles you menrioned have really nice elements in it so it's good they get some attention.

On the case of Air Gear: quite a lot of people like Echi, The story has interesting fights especially later in the story, And the feeling of just riding on Inline Skates is something people can relate too I geuss.

On the other hand if you judge by mangafox you need to realize its heavily influenced by how quickly chapters get released

Bleach - Dropped it when story went to stand still with boring action.
Naruto - When it became sasuke instead of naruto.
Bleezbub - Jokes not funny anymore, kinda boring now.

Its been said before, i'll say it again. Death Note.

If it had ended when L died, then it would have been amazing. If some other ending, ANY other ending than the one it had, had occured, it would have been amazing. I've seen fan-made endings that do the series better justice.
