I'm looking for a very short shoujo manga which is also a really really good read. I want to read something to pass the time while I wait for episodes to load so I'm hoping somebody has a suggestion...

By short, do you mean volume wise? Because Dear Mine is a personal favorite and spans only about 4 volumes. It's a very sweet and good read, something you'd expect from a shoujo.
Hotarubi no Mori E is also another favorite. It's one volume consisting of 4 one-shots, all of which are good in their own right. Two and four were probably the best and left a deeper impact on me however.
Then there's a one-shot called Ipaasha, which has probably some of the most gorgeous art I've ever seen. For both the story and artwork, it's worth the read.
And, for more comedy and romance, Eensy-Weensy Monster is great too. It only has 2 volumes. I could read it over and over without getting tired of it.
Same goes for everything above.

Short Shoujo
Ai Hime - Ai to Himegoto -- sweet, non-dramatic romance...
Ten no Ryuu Chi no Sakura -- oooooh... such fluffy hair!!
Hanatsukihime -- a nice change of scenery.
A House in Venice -- atypical art with a chilling feeling... but good.
Seconding Otokomae! Beads Kurabu. If you liked that, you may like Kimi wa Girlfriend
Shoujo One-shots
Nanairo Sekai -- if you liked these, I suggest Bus Hashiru (though categorized as seinen, it's really really good)
Hidarite no Love Letter
Minna Kirakira -- a tad random... not so much romance... more about childcare.
A Small World -- again, also revolves around childcare.
Koi (MATSUMOTO Tomo) -- interesting way to meet a potential boyfriend...
Matryoshka and Akai Michi have GORGEOUS art and an awesome plot (I really liked Matryoshka)
Senaka no Otoko
Short Josei
Nonchan to Watashi
Shuukatsu!! - Kimi ni Naitei -- I thought that this was cute...
Yuru Koi -- and this one too...
Guys After Marriage - (9 page one-shot) cute, funny.
Unsure how to categorize this, but read it anyway: I Am a Piano

How about Vitamin (SUENOBU Keiko)? I read it just now, and I really liked it. Read it, it's good.

LIFE
Description
From Tokyopop:
Ayumu Shiiba is studying for the all-important high school entrance exams. She is struggling to get by, but thankfully has help from her best friend Shii-chan, who is at the top of their class. Test results come back and their friendship falls apart when Ayumu surpasses Shii-chan’s scores and gets into her high school of choice while Shii-chan doesn’t! Losing Shii-chan is so painful for Ayumu that she starts cutting her wrists for comfort. Hoping for a fresh start, Ayumu arrives at her new high school and finally opens up to a new friend, Manami. But will Manami prove to be the friend that Ayumu truly needs or send her further in a downward spiral?
In 2006, this manga won the Kodansha Manga Award for shoujo.
Hotaru no Hikari
Description
27-year-old Hotaru would rather sleep at home than seek romance, but due to unforeseen circumstances, suddenly she’s living with her boss, Takano. What’s more is that she now has a budding relationship with Makoto, who’s younger than she is. Like a dried fish thrown back into the ocean, can she learn to swim again and rediscover the ways of romance?
