I saw the topic "shojo that a guy would enjoy" and thought I kinda wanna know what the shounen mangas are, that a girl would enjoy. (sry for half copying your topic Wererat42 and sry if this topic already existed)
I like shojo and have never really tryed shounen but I think that there have to be some a girl would enjoy.
I think the only shounen cliche I dislike is a Idiot-like-weak-lead or something in that direction.
Personally my criterias for reading shounen would be:
-art
-story...
-no ecchi
but that is probably for all mangas so just write down what you think ^^

I honestly haven't read that much shounen yet (I've watched more anime than read mangas in the shounen genre), but I really liked Double Arts, even though it was canceled and "completed" early. Had it been given the opportunity, I think it would've been really great.
I liked Blood + as well, though that one you at least have to like blood since it's a vampire-esque story.
I started reading Letter Bee in the American Shounen Jump magazine and liked it also, but I haven't read much of it yet.
I would venture to say that those shounen stories which have a reasonable romance storyline going on in the midst of the action will probably be OK with girls. In general, many of those will be ecchi though.

From a bumper sticker I like:
"If you're gonna ride my ass, at least pull my hair."

Hmmm, I'm not sure, but I'll try.
I think you might enjoy those, since they have a shoujo-ish feeling to them...:
Sengoku Strays
Senki Senki Momotama
Vampire Juujikai
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Superior
Other shounen I like:
Yotsubato!
GTO
Blood Alone
Aqua & Aria
You probably know this one, but Switch is quite appealing.
And that's pretty much it. Hope you'll find something you'll enjoy.

Action/Shounen:
Spiral
Alive
Superior
Vampire Juujikai
Eureka Seven
Gunslinger Girl since it's now labeled as shounen -.-
Comedy/Shounen:
Yotsubato! same as above
Mahoraba
Toradora!
Hikaru no Go
Karin
Watashitachi no Tamura-kun
For art, the most shoujo-ish art are in Superior, Vampire Juujikai, Spiral, Karin and maybe Yotsubato!.
Gunslinger Girl's art is awesome if you prefer "detailed" art instead of "fancy" art (see my avatar ^^).
But these above are all good shounen imho, if you want a good romance comedy I'd go for Mahoraba and Toradora!, if you want a good mystery story try Spiral and for an adventure Superior and Vampire Juujikai are probably the most suitable for a girl.

if talking about shounen there are a lot of manga titles that have the label ecchi, but that doesn't mean its a manga about fan-service (Freezing, Aflame Inferno, Immortal Regis and Chobits to name a few that are ecchi but shouldn't be compared with the likes of To-LOVE-Ru - Trouble - )
with that said I recommend:
Chobits
Superior
Karin
Suzuka
I"s - maybe
don't know if is a "Shounen that a girl would enjoy" but
I recommend at least have a look at these:
Freezing
Aflame Inferno
Immortal Regis
Flame of Recca
Rurouni Kenshin
Psyren
Ga-rei
MÄR

Ares - The art looks a bit wispy/sketchy, but I personally like it, and the story is riveting. Judging from the Ares fan community on LiveJournal, there seem to be quite a few female fans of this series, maybe because the action doesn't overpower the drama, romance, and other aspects of the plot. Also, the male characters are kind of hot and not idiots...
Full Metal Alchemist - Excellent shounen manga that I believe is universally liked by both genders. The story is very well-balanced with action, drama, comedy, and other elements. The author is female, BTW.
Rurouni Kenshin - Old school art, but classic story. It was one of the first mangas I ever loved before anyone told me that "shounen" mangas were for boys.
Samurai Usagi - Very cute romantic comedy with some action thrown in. This actually could be a shoujo manga, and people wouldn't be able to tell.
Yankee-kun to Megane-chan - Hilarious! Again a female author.
Yotsuba&! - Charming manga that can be enjoyed by anyone, except maybe children who can't yet appreciate how special childhood is.

Full Metal Alchemist
Toradora!
Midori Days
Karin
Get Backers
Saiyuki
Chobits
Mousou Shoujo Otakukei
Blood +
Cheeky Angel
Bitter Virgin
Slayers-I only watched the anime though. I have no idea how the manga is. Might check some of them out myself.
Some have ecchi but its not that bad. It can easily be ignored and its not too much. A few of those are seinen..but eh. Close enough.
